Great drive mate! its good for the first time on that track. Do you use Oil Cooler? I also own JDM MR-S 2zz swapped prepared mostly for track driving and I suffer with oil temp. it goes up to 135C/275F. Gonna install oil cooler this summer, otherwise it's quite big risk

Fuck me I love this , I'm planning to do the same with my corrola T-sport with the 2zzge , could you advise me what you did to prepare the car and especially the motor for track usage ?
@MaximePain
@MaximePain Жыл бұрын
You will love it, the biggest issue with the 2zz is the oil system, the first thing you need is a baffled oil pan to avoid oil starvation in the corner, some kit exists, like weld plates on the stock pan, the better option is an oil pan like the Moroso, expensive but necessary. If you don’t have an oil temp and pressure gauge, it’s good to have, with that you can know if your engine is running at the good temperature and if the oil pump is doing its job. I don’t know if an oil cooler is necessary on the corolla, it was on the mr2 spyder, but with the gauge you should know. Otherwise nothing much to do, a good service before going on track, oil change, and check the oil level often between some laps on track, driving hard can burn more oil than just driving casually on the road, that’s it, you will love it :)

@MaximePain

So here's the thing, I have one of these, 2zz MK3 but no wing on the back (yet) and I'm trying to decide whether to take that or the daily (mini f56) to the ring. I know the mr2 will be huge fun when there but man.. the drive there.. suggestions? Also what wing do you have?
@MaximePain
@MaximePain 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a no name wing, I’ve bought the car like that, not sure it does anything apart for the look ^^ The mr2 is definitely super fun on the track, even if it lacks a bit of power.. The drive to get there, well, I live in the west of France, at 1000kms from the circuit, it was a long drive, it was hot, boring, but I’m 100% gonna do it again next year, the experience there is just like nothing else.

I'm really in big dilemma whether to buy second gen. MX-5 or this. I like the looks of MX-5 much better, plus I guess it would have been easier for me to work on a car that has engine up front. But this MR-2 sounds so nicely and appears better in sports driving.
@MaximePain
@MaximePain 2 жыл бұрын
It’s really similar to the mx5 nb if both have a stock engine, I prefer the look of the mr2, and with the 2zz it’s much cooler :) The mr2 is fun even with the stock engine, even if it’s a bit slow you can have really good fun even on track with it, and the mid engine experience is great :) If you can try both, but there is no bad choice I think

@@MaximePain Thanks. I'm actually thinking of appropriating the car for rallying, skidplates, reinforcements, that sort of thing. I like using the Scandinavian Flick technique. @@piotrmalewski8178 Yea I’m not sure the mr2 is the best car for this, it’s known for snap oversteer, even though I never experienced it, I guess it’s because most people are not used to drive a mid engine cars and can be surprised, but once you understand the car it’s really safe and can be quite fast, but I won’t try to throw it scandinavian style ^^

Hi, I ve got some other questions. What tyre sizes do you drive ? Front I could see 225/45R15 on my pictures, and in the rear ? You need any works to fit the wheels under the fender ? What offset does the wheels have, and do you use spacers ? What suspension do you drive? Thanks in advance. Best regards 👍
@MaximePain
@MaximePain 6 ай бұрын
Hi, tires are 225/45R15 on front and rear too, I love how it handles with a square setup, front goes where I want it to go and rear is still very planted, also thanks to Nankang Ar-1. I will soon try the Yoko A052 in 225/50R15, still square setup, will see if it’s as good. The 4 Rims are 15x8 et28, if fits perfectly with stock fenders, and without spacers. It doesn’t touch anything even on bumpy roads or aggressive driving, but I think it’s almost the largest we can go with stock fenders, and more is not really necessary. Coilovers are Blitz ZZR with 4/6kg springs. Cheap but good on the track and the road :)
