A very good mod. Worthwhile to replace the bushings too. I noticed short shifters are available for certain Porsches. The MR2 offers the driver a unique experience even when going to the market. That's it's appeal. Thank you.

The ebay one you got was fine, you simply need to use an angle grinder on the portion that was hitting the cable and bolt.HOWEVER, the one you got seemed to be for a turbo while you have an NA, or it was for an NA while you had a turbo. This actually has an effect that will completely ruin the fit. The one you now have in this video has too think of a plate. Any amount the bolting point for the cable is raised must be equally compensated by the thickness of the lowering plate to bring that hole back to the height it was at before. Most people have difficulty because they do not realize that must remove everything and hammer the metal inside the cup that is beneath the shifter. hammering it down a little will make room for a thicker plate to lower the underbelly of the shifter further. Since you did not do this, your "forward/back" cable is now bent up too high and will break much sooner in the area a couple of inches behind the fastening clip. I suggest you find a thicker lowering plate and hammer the inside of your cup. As for the black cup that comes with your shifter, it is in two pieces. It would be better to order another OEM cup. The only reason yours has play in it is due to age.

Why have a shorter throw? Longer throws are cooler. And you shift faster by moving your arm quicker.

every veteran mr2 owner: Dont buy the ebay short shifter. Every noob mr2 owner: OMG ebay short shifter. Sadly you wasted money on the C's shifter. If you have a 93+ all you need to do is a drop plate and the Jon:O mod C's shifter really only cost efficient for 91-92 people. Also the drop plate isnt to shorten the shifts, its to lower the shifter to make up for the added angle on the shift cables.
