Yes, please! Especially how you can bring Mixer materials into Unreal Engine and set up the material there. This has not been covered much on KZbin. There are tons of tutorials on how to bring Megascans from Bridge to UE but not how to export custom assets from Mixer directly

Quick tip, for those not familiar with Quixel and landed here from Ben Cloward tutorial: you can process the other textures by right-clicking the layers and select "Replace maps". Just remember to save the mix to another name before hand.
@lee_lee5307
@lee_lee5307 2 жыл бұрын
Brand new to Quixel Mixer and tried this method to process other textures. It seems when I replace maps it is saving the albedo color info. For example, going from a grassy texture to a stone texture the color sample dot next to albedo options (on the right hand side) remains green and influences that green color on the stone texture. Any recommendations?
@emmanuelrenquin2567
@emmanuelrenquin2567 2 жыл бұрын
@@lee_lee5307 I noticed that later on and had to rework all the textures :/. So what I did is load the texture in a new layer, copy the albedo hex code from there and paste it in the "untiling" layer. Then you can delete the layer you loaded as it is only meant to get the correct color code.

I think blend type should be opacity masked, if not you start to loose too much depth. not sure how to blend the mask based on height around the 0.1-0.9 values. Adding a nose near the top of the stack and using 4x4 or 2x2m surfaces helps a lot too

Thanks for sharing this method. I wonder if you dig into having that cavity map in the equation as it seems downloading the material from Quixel doesn't add it and I have no clue how to add it manually.

You just have to multiply it over the albedo. Make a custom material.

What's up, new to Unreal and Quixel Bridge. Is there a way to tile a material in Unreal Engine 4 without having to do so in bridge? Trying to blend two materials together and it's just one repetition of the texture which is super zoomed in.

hello, you write about the cavity map "It can be added various different ways but thanks for the suggestion, I'll see if I can include that in a future tutorial " could you please say how to do that exactly? the forum says you can't save a cavity map when exporting. it's supposed to come as a feature but it's been in a threat in the forum for 2 years.

I just took the AO and played with curves so that when multiplying it has a similar effect if you were to use cavity. Hope the proper way will come out soon :)

but for all seriousness, I recently try make tileable material from photogrammetry. I try Painter, Mixer and Alchemist. I wasn't able to do anything in mixer - my surface had height change at 3mm level. For rocks, looks perfect, but for such flat surfaces I had weird problem that even slider wasn't able to fix. IF would be possible, I can send you pbr material pack (colormap, normal and height) to check it and made video if you consider that as good material. Like said, alchemist works great yet I would like to use Mixer as free tool - we love free tools :)

@@MR3DDev yes, that is exactly video that look as help. Sadly like I said, their flow is fine for structures with nice height difference, no for something like pumpkin peal. Let me show you.i.imgur.com/cylzGVZ.jpeg of course by turning off height map its not a problem, but H map is essential here. By change material layer threshold its slightly possible, yet after a certain point, obviously both layers interact each other. Thanks for suggestion and time to answer :)
