Norfolk State was named ESPNs/Undefeated HBCU band the year in 2021 for halftime shows. this is the same organization that is putting on the band of the year in November. They were named HBCU Band of the year for 2022 by HBCU Sports and HBCU Buzz for halftime shows. They were named as having the #1 & #3 halftime shows of the year by HBCU Sports in 2022. Southern was #7 and A&T was #8. And for this season so far they were named as having the top half-time shows of the week by HBCU Sports twice.
