More economical on copper, also easier path for the gas so you don't have to increase the size of the pipe to 28mm or 35mm due to pressure drop - which would be a massive pain with that type of floor joist set up to find out pipe is undersized when commissioning the boiler.

The family bath seems huge compared to the master bath and closet. Did you ever consider swapping the master and your daughter's bedroom? You would have a larger master suite by incorporating that hallway into usable space ... and it has the taller ceilings. Your existing master closet and bath would make a nice size shared bath for the two bedrooms. Additionally, I know you are doing this renovation on a tight budget, but one trick to make your rooms appear larger is to use taller doors.

Well done on getting the joists and flooring down,must say i was inpressed with the levels as there was a chance that there could be a discrepancy due to the floor been slightly higher!!! When the scene with Rich bending over with his backside in shot(before you said it was him!!) my wife commented "Thats Richard,i recconnise his ass anywhere!!!!!" You will have to tell him his ass is more recconnised than his face!!!! Fame at last for him!!!LOL With regard to the bricks,some people will nick anything for money!! Its a wonder the neighbours didnt see of hear them as 500 bricks would take a while to move at night the sound would travel more!! At least the "Tat" is safe in the house,well it should be!!!! Hi Adam, you gave some great information on the joists you used there mate and you were lucky to be using a good supplier. Cost wise how would you say they compare with 200 by 50mm solid timber. Also the ceiling plate you fixed to the rafters to form the bathroom corridor wall, did you have to cut the inside edge of the timber at the pitch angle of your roof, to prevent it interfering with the plasterboard laying flat? Goon luck with the floor and Easter.👍👍
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hello Kevin, hope you're well mate. Costings is something that I should've gone through, sorry about that. I reckon that these joists, materials only, would be £300 - £400 more expensive. Great progress and looks like heavy work ahead. I’m curious though why on a story house with stud walls. Why do you need fire doors? Or does plasterboard and insulation offer a high fire protection now? If they were block walls floor to ceiling around the stairwell. It makes more sense
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
I think that it's the plasterboard that gives the stud walls it's fire protection, but the wooden door is obviously the weak point from a fire point of view so you're required to install fire doors.

@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
There used to be a "two door" rule, a door from the toilet into another room, say the utility, then another out into the kitchen...but I believe that that rule has now gone because of how impractical that is in so many homes. Imagine being wheelchair bound and being told you couldn't have a downstairs loo! Obviously if you can have two doors it's better, but I don't believe it's a do or die rule anymore.

@@Mr_A_Builders Thanks a lot for your comments. I'm guessing the benefit of these over timber joists is that they can be installed by one man due to lighter weight. Cheers Andrew, appreciate that mate. Unfortunately there will be a slight hiatus until the next episode but I'll try my best to get one out asap. Take care mate.

They aren't something that I spend good money on mate. Even the best ones in the world will be ruined as soon as you catch a nail so I just go cheap mate.

Is there no heating in the house at all at the moment then? Are you still living in the loft? 🥶

Hello Gaby. No, there hasn't been any heating for a while now! Yeah, I'm still up there!

Brad I’m running out of superlatives - fantastic work at a supreme level. If I can offer a very small criticism, the hair and makeup is spot on, must take hours, but need more work with your dialect couch as the local twang is lacking. Happy Easter to you and your family. 🐣🐣🐣Regards Mike

Haha! I must admit the make-up department is earning its money this week! Thank you yet again for your continued support, Mike. Take care mate.
