Nice to see your electrician using oval conduit to protect their cables. So many just clip the cable to the wall. Looks so much better in conduit. 😊

The only correct way to do it IMO and should a fault occur, a new cable can usually be pulled through using the old as a draw wire.

I'm sure it's just personal preference and you know this already but a lower gauge vapour control layer is enough on top of the insulation sheets (I think I used 500). Supposedly it's just to stop the foil from reacting with the screed, forming bubbles and weakening it. It might be easier to work with the 500 gauge on corners than the 1200 gauge dpm. Either way, a great video as always. I learn loads every week. Thanks!

When you’ve already got a part roll left it’s not cost effective to then purchase a lesser gauge DPM. 👍🏻

@@Mr_A_Builders I did wonder if that was the case! Fair enough! 😅

Very educational video Rich, although I’ve never been a great fan of underfloor heating, I prefer rads. Is that red pipe a specialist pipe for underfloor heating? Looking forward to next weeks video 👍

Great again Rich. Out of interest, when they leak test have they ever had a leak and if they did, do they need to replace all the pipe or can you do a local repair.
@Mr_A_BuildersКүн бұрын
They’ve never told me they’ve had a leak during test but he did tell me when he was there he’d been out to a repair where a tradesperson had drilled through it once it was installed so it can be repaired. 👍🏻

I saw another video recently where UFH was being installed and they said you should put it over the whole floor (including under cabinets/islands etc) as it gives you flexibility if you want to rearrange your kitchen layout in the future. I can see both sides of the argument to be fair.
@Mr_A_Builders2 күн бұрын
I think that depends on the space you have and if you have the potential flexibility to change the space and then I suppose that would make sense. I wouldn’t put UFH under my cupboards though. 👍🏻

Great vid as always Got a question though , if it 200 mm separation of pipe for a traditional boiler but less for a ashp, what happens if you add a ashp later ?

What’s happening with the basement build and will you be starting any new jobs before Christmas?

There’s a few things left to do to completely wrap up there so we may do a final walk through for completion soon. 😂

Funny pause during the slump test?

Sorry about that but I had no other way to listen to what our UFH engineer was saying about the slump test. I didn’t want to put him on camera too long he wasn’t comfortable doing it 👍🏻

Trust extra layer of plastic is often called the slip sheet. The idea is to stop the Gyvlon from sticking too, or reacting with, the Aluminium foil on the insulation below. It serves double duty of preventing the screed from leaking down in any cracks there may be in the insulation if someone has missed tapeing a joint. On the last four floors I've done I've followed the British Standard and pressure tested the floor to a higher pressure than you'll get from garden hose. I also fitted a temporary pressure guage to the system so I could check there was no pressure drop over 24 hours.
