I’ve had the same machine for over a year and this is an excellent overview of how to best use it, thank you for posting. There are a couple of points I’d like to share: Firstly, the hose is 15m long and is ¼” bore. I found it a bit cumbersome to work with in e.g. stairwells so I bought a 7.5m long 3/16” bore hose which I’d seen people using. It wouldn’t connect to either the machine or the gun. Eventually I spoke to Wagner who confirmed that the threaded ends of their hose are unique to Wagner, so you can only use the Wagner hose. The good news is that the thread on the gun tip end is universal so you can use e.g. Graco extensions and tips, etc. which is useful if you have a high ceiling. Secondly, I glanced through the comments and couldn’t see anyone had posted about the order of painting a room. So for any beginners, the best order is to spray the skirting, architraves etc. on day one (hitting the wall as well); On day two, mask off the skirting, etc. with 12” paper and spray the wall colour (hitting the ceiling) and damask skirting when wet; On day three, mask off the walls using delicate tape and 2.7m film to cover the skirting and doorways and spray the ceilings. Remove the wall masking when the ceiling is still wet for “the great unveil”! Clients are thrilled with the results. With best wishes, Rob

Great video and tips! Just have some more questions. Firstly, is it a problem to hit the wall with (semi gloss?) paint which is used to spray the skirting e.d., and spray the wall on the next day with Latex? In other words: can you just spray around on the skirting etc. without masking anything, even if the paint used differs from Latex? Secondly, how long can you leave the the bucket paint open while waiting for drying of the first coat before going to the second coat? Do you need to stirring again (so do you take off the Wagner from the bucket paint?)
@amanfriday3141Ай бұрын
@@goproev3941 I've never re-stirred the paint once I've started spraying (maybe wiggled the hose in the paint!) and have found that a couple of hours (sometimes less) is fine between coats. Hope this helps.

Fantastic video, we are 3/4 way through a large house under refurbishment and have used around 250 litres of paint. We would never have managed this without the sprayer. And the speed is sensational - yesterday we did a second coat of a hallway, utility room, boot room and small wc in 25 minutes. But some additional tips to this video. Firstly consider getting the smaller 250m model as it is much lighter, easier to move from room to room and plenty powerful enough. Next, when spraying don't be afraid of adjusting the power. We started using a power level of 4 which was much too powerful if you couldn't stand well back from the wall eg in a confined corner or inside a wardrobe. Using level 3 works well in these locations. Protective clothing - I found goggles were a pain - kept steaming up and got obscured Much better is a face shield - On a big ceiling have someone with you who can swop and wipe clean a second face shield so you don't have to stop. And finally when cleaning it is much easier if you have several buckets of water available so you ensure you are rinsing through with clean water . The Leyland Latex paint covers really well but you do get through a lot of it

Thanks for the brilliant review. I bought this model based on your video, and it hasn't let me down. You can do 1 coat, in an average size bedroom, ceilings and walls, in about 7 mins. I'm renovating an older house we bought, so works it perfect, as we've stripped it back to the walls, and we've no doors or floors in yet, so there is little we need to protect from the paint. If you just want to paint a room, that has carpets, wardrobes etc, it's probably not the way to go, as you'd be as long masking and covering, as you would be painting the room with a roller! Thanks again.

I’m a DIYer and love my Wagner 250. I’ve added a whip hose (less stress on the wrist), nozzle extension (access to Victorian ceilings) and another tip holder (Trade Tip 2) which means I can attempt to use water based under coat and gloss using a fine finish tip. Cleaning wise, I salvage as much paint from the pump and hose into the paint tin then I do exactly the same as you, one clean water bucket, one for dirty or if I can, take the whole lot outside, clean bucket under outside tap, return pipe and gun pointing down the gully and keep going until it all runs clear. I also strip down the gun and give everything a good clean. It is well worth adding some oil to the pump (instructions in the manual) if you aren’t using the pump for a while as it gets expensive replacing the inlet and outlet valves if the get gummed up…DAMHIK! 😂 The London Craftsman has a great series on airless spraying.

Been spraying for years in 🇬🇧 key piece of advice when spraying a mist coat, back roll it and work it into the plaster or it just sits on top 😂 then prep your walls properly and apply a spray finish. ALWAYS backroll mist coats on new plaster and boards
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hello Jeff. I can't say that I agree with the backrolling at all. Why a liquid being put on an extremely absorbent surface would need pushing into it is a strange concept. Unless your plasterer gives a polished, glass like finish which will always give you problems when it comes to painting. Add to that the fact that the paint on bare plaster dries almost instantaneously backrolling will be almost pointless in my opinion.
@jeffdidntkhs3945 Жыл бұрын
@@Mr_A_Builders just from years of experience spraying and decorating professionally. Depending on temperature and conditions of the build if the mist coat is sprayed and not worked in sometimes it can sit on the top and get sanded straight off or even peel. Colder temperatures over night seem to cause it more often. The big prep after a poorly applied mist coat normally knocks the majority of it off and has to be mist coated again. We use mirka Leros’ and deros on the walls so it has to be properly worked into the plaster. If you do any professional spray courses it’s heavily advised on new plaster and plaster board. It doesn’t take long to do just to cover your arse when you do as many paint jobs as me. A lot of these fly by decorators buy a gracos spray and pray. Get paid and clear off. They’re not interested in the long term Ive had the same customers for nearly 20 years 🤣

I'm doing it like this: mist the whole thing, do my fill and caulk, walls and wood, knotting etc, white contract matt on the ceiling, do all the woodwork over sprayed slightly to the plaster with zinsser primer, 2 coats of armstead quick dry satin. Then mask the edge of the ceiling and all the woodwork and dobthe walls in armstead vinyl matt with a dulux colour in it (illegal mix). One thing I will say with this method is watch how much satin goes on the wall, especially round window board horns for example. The vinyl matt will hang around on the satin and can run.

So I have been looking all over for some video that explains things I had questions about and you did that and more with this vid! I was wondering about the filters, why are they there... (you covered that very good), I was wondering about how to clean everything etc, so well done, also an unedited portion of using it without any music etc (you would be surprised how rare that is), how to properly handle it etc! The part where you use a waste bucket for when priming the gun, I didn't get that at first but it´s so obvious when you talk about airbubbles etc. Thanks for that tip, it´s super obvious now looking at it again (and this is not covered in other videos). It feels genuine with real information from someone who has experience and want to teach their tips to others, so very thankful for your work here. My own project is to paint an old barn and want to make it easier for me and the only thing that I feel is left for me to figure out is what if the bucket is larger than what the hose here seem to reach... but thats a minor thing, and I can live with that if I need to scoop out from 100L to 10-15L at the time. Again, excellent video, very very well explained and pedagogic in all ways, great helper you had there too (props for good-lad-#1 we all need one of those around!).

Just a point on the cleaning up, when you put the pick up pipe into the clear bucket of water would it not be better to then put the return pipe into a waster bucket for the first few seconds at least, as it seems this first few seconds of cleaning the pipes will be when you get most of the left over paint returning back and you’ll not cloud up your fresh cleaning water so quickly? If you're using emulsion or any water based paint then the way demonstrated in the video works fine. You absolutely can do what you say, but you'll be forever filling the water back up and that's fine but it's one more thing to do. In essence, do what you think is right and you'll be fine. Hi again, Everything worked great when I done three ceilings a few weeks ago but this weekend I’ve done the walls and the paint is just running down the wall like no tomorrow, both Resene paint, one specifically for ceilings, other for walls I mixed both water based paints at 10% so I’m wondering, do I need to decrease the water when applying to walls or do I keep the same mix and adjust the flow? I done both on pressure setting 3 but the walls are literally streaming, I’ve had to go over all the runs with a roller and the roller was that full I had to stop every 10 to 15 minutes to wash the excess paint off it, it was that heavy on the wall Thanks man

Put simply mate you're putting too much on. Either by standing too close, not moving fast enough or both. What tip are you using? You don't want anything smaller than a 517.
@GatesheadEddie13 күн бұрын
@@Mr_A_BuildersI’m using the green tip that came with it (pretty sure it’s 517?) but I’ve just watched your video again and I think I might of spotted where I’m going wrong. I’m the same distance from the wall as you are but I’m up on a ladder as the top of the wall is around 4 meters high so I’m doing it in short bursts so to speak, not one continuous pull of the trigger, I’ve noticed you rarely let go of the trigger and do a whole wall in almost one sweep. I’m thinking that maybe every pull of the trigger it releases just that little bit to much for me to keep up with, I then move the ladder another few feet and do the top of the wall again and I’m now beginning to think these short sharp bursts are my problem, gonna try it again today at ground level and some new running shoes! 😂

Thanks for the video, it gives newbies a lot of information, it is also an opportunity to compare experiences between users, given the lack of even a support community. I have a 350m, but the paint (professional not ready to use) I dilute it according to the manufacturer's instructions, You have diluted to 10%, is it your choice based on your experience? oppore is an indication of the manufacturer (please note that comment from Europe). Does the amount of paint used reflect the manufacturer's yield values sufficiently with the pressure and nozzle used? Also try with a 515 diluting a little more and lowering the pressure, in doing so I got a better finish with some paints. Also for the ceilings use the 619, wider beam and a little more paint ... For cleaning, before even using the water (preferably warm) do the "prime" then to empty the hose of the gun almost completely, without further diluting the paint, lift Suction - returt hose from the paint, put the machine in mode spray, and I recommend .. keeping the trigger pressed (before turning on the pump) activates the pump. You will get that the hose of the gun will empty quite a lot without further adding water to the paint (given the raised floats) that you can keep for retouching and future needs. After this phase resume standard cleaning in "prime" mode. I also clean the outside of the machine and hose in addition to the gun. The Flexio 690 I have always used (more than 5 years) is extremely comfortable for small and medium jobs. Hello and thanks
@Mr_A_Builders2 жыл бұрын
Hello Ampro, thank you for your comment and tips. I really appreciate it. I diluted by 10% because of a KZbin video from Skillbuilder where they went to the Leyland factory and spoke to their expert who said to dilute by no more than 10%, so I took that on board, tried it and it worked a treat. Funnily enough I was thinking about a wider tip for the ceilings, I own one too and don't know why I didn't use it as it makes perfect sense. Just below max pressure in this machine always seems to have the best result regardless of what paint I've used but will definitely try what you've suggested with the 515. Are you based in the UK?

@@Mr_A_Builders Hello, thanks for appreciating the comment. I state that I am not a professional. With regard to dilution, this must be evaluated on the basis of the viscosity of the paint. For this reason I prefer paint manufacturers who indicate a range of nozzles and pressure. I am currently using a washable water-based paint that must be diluted to 30-40%, as per the technical data sheet which indicates a nozzle starting from 515. So I got good results with a not excessive consumption of paint, but in reality I don't think there is a value single standard. It seems to me that 10% is a bit low for a professional paint that is not diluted like those in DIY stores. In my very little experience, I am in Italy.

Hello Owen, hope you're well. By all means you can do a 50/50 mix if you like, I honestly can't see any issues, but that goes against the manufacturers recommendations for this particular paint, so I've stuck to their rules of 10% just to be on the safe side. Hope that helps, take care.

Wouldn’t have been able to use it with out this video thanks again!
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hello Louis, hope you're well mate. If it's losing pressure then there's an air leak somewhere, simple as that and it's no surprise if it's brand new. Start at the pump and nip up every connection and always make sure that both the suction tube and the discharge tube are always fully submerged in the paint at all times. Give all that a go and let me know how you get on. Best of luck mate.

Everyone else is saying first coat must be 50/50 -60/40 paint to water to ensure a good base on fresh walls? Please help
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hello Gareth, hope you're well. I only ever water down by 10% as that's the paint manufacturers recommendation. In all honesty I can't see an issue with watering down any further but I really can't see the point. Yes, the paint goes further but I have never had an issue with just 10%. Every coat I apply is watered down by that amount so I make a big batch and go for it. Drying time between coats is crucial, just be patient and you'll be fine.

Mate!!!! I’ve fully changed my mind about this spraying lark after today, been thinking about it for a while now, kept watching YT vids and putting off getting one as they are a big cash layout in these current times but the time and effort it saves covering a full room inc ceilings is no joke, decent sized living room took me 20 mins to paint a single coat, great coverage too, well impressed! If you can get the clean up process down to a T and the paint bucket swap down to a fine art I think this could replace my rollers for first and second coat on new plaster from now on! The only thing I’m a bit confused about is a feature wall or doing the walls say grey after the ceiling has been done, do you just have to mask the entire ceiling off to do the walls in a different colour? Can’t see any other way of doing it? Thanks for the reply and thanks for the info, really really helped me today and convinced me to buy one after watching it so Wagner owes you one! Top man 🙏👍

@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hello Nicky, hope you're well. Sorry for the late reply. You've got two options really, I'm my opinion anyway.....you can either paint all the woodwork and mask it, or leave it, spray everything then paint the woodwork by hand, which really isn't that bad! @Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hello Alexa, hope you're well. I've never used primer through the machine personally but there's no reason why you can't. You can use any paint as long as it's not textured as it'll be too abrasive for the machine. As for how long you can keep the paint in it...I strongly advise that you clean it thoroughly at the end of each working day. In theory, the machine once primed is air tight so overnight may not be an issue, but I don't recommend it.
