Love these vids. Quick question...... Do regs specify protected route as its a 3 storey? Should the beds walls be cladded in fire board adjacent to the route of escape?? Also what u value does the 100mm pir + 25 polystyrene achieve? Does it achieve 0.13 current regs? Current doing my own place up!!

Stupid question lads do you not need to put washers with the screws for the plasterboard due to the insulation?Doing an attic myself and just wanted to double check. great videos by the way.

Hello Keith, apologies for the late reply. You don't need them for the plasterer board mate, in fact you can't use them because you can't plaster over them. The odd screw and washer into the insulation just to keep it in place while you're working but my advice is at this stage use minimal fixings. When you plasterboard over it all the fixings that you put that up with will hold everything in place. Think of it as the plasterboard screws are the screws and the plasterboard is the washer and that's what keeps the insulation in place... does that make sense?

When floor of loft was being put down I didn't notice any insulation between it and the floor beneath (i.e. the house's first floor) - did I miss that?
@Mr_A_Builders2 жыл бұрын
Hello M D, hope you're well. We've removed the entire first floor ceiling and rebuilt it, so the underside of the loft floor was open at the point of this video so the trades could get their cables and pipes in, you'll see it all get insulated in future episodes. Have a great day.

Nice video mate - Silly question from a complete novice ! I am buying a house that the previous owner sold with the loft half finished ,most of the walls have plasterboard already installed and the floor is done with plywood so do I just plaster over the plasterboard and then paint ?
@ACAIDC Жыл бұрын
Assuming they did everything correctly and followed regulations then yes you could just plaster the walls and paint. However, it might be worth having a build inspector check everything is done correctly before you finish the space.

Do you need fire retardant plasterboard on the stud walls? I'm confused to where you need it.
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hi David. If you require a 30 minute fire wall in a residential property then it has to go floor to ceiling of your room with no breaks and must be plaster boarded both sides with 12.5mm board and then skimmed. However, these regs can be a minefield like head heights in lofts. Speak to your building inspector to clarify because they are the ones that have to sign any works off 👍🏻👍🏻
