@@googleuser3163 I've been a subscriber to a hurdy-gurdy performer's channel and have learned a lot about the instrument. While there is much to like about a hurdy-gurdy, I haven't heard anyone playing "He's a Pirate" solo on the hurdy-gurdy that sounds even remotely as impressive as this accordion rendition. They sound choppy, or thin, or mechanical, or are done as duets with other instruments or backing tracks instead of a pure solo. If you have a link to a great rendition of this tune played solo on the hurdy-gurdy, please share! I would like to hear one!

KZbin fanatic My father was a professional accordion player in Chicago back in the 40's and played similar to the style you play. People just don't realize how beautiful this instrument can actually sound and that you can play other types of music other than polkas. Not that there's anything wrong with pokas as he played those too and played them well. But to make an instrument like this sound like an orchestra is truly unique and masterful. I can already imagine the story: Some pirate acquires a magical treasure-y artefact that sends him forward in time. Pirate finds out about the myriad of channels and bands producing beautiful music inspired by his trade. Pirate starts playing this strange but inspiring music on his Accordion. Pirate goes back to his own age and gets famous by playing unorthodox music that even while being rowdy is still a beaute to listen to, even for the rich 1st class families.

My dad’s quite well-known in the Irish Dancing and Irish Traditional Music world. I won’t give out his names to protect my privacy and my family’s privacy, but he put out his first album when he is 15, which is the age I am now. My dad is a multi-instrumentalist. Over the years he has played Accordion, Keyboard, Piano, Organ, Drums and Percussion, although he’s more well-known for playing Drums and Percussion. He has both a keyboard and an accordion here at home, which I often hear him play. Most of the time, I hear him play the keyboard. It is only rare instances where I hear him play the accordion at home. My dad pretty much plays the Piano Accordion, the one seen here. Since I only saw this kind of accordion so much when I was younger, I didn’t even know other kinds of accordions existed until I was 14. My dad being an Accordionist is the only reason I knew Accordions existed when I was younger. If my dad was never an accordionist, then I wouldn’t have known the accordion ever existed until many years after, when I developed an interest in music.

AAAARG! Ay Boy! What a wonderful rendition of the P ot C! This accordion must've been made in Ireland because it sounds like the song was made for all those who flew the Jolly Roger. Dude you rocked this P ot C song so hard. It needs to be played in bars in the Caribbean where all the men are waving their bottles of RUM high in the air. BRAVO maestro! You killed it dude. Show your face next time and put on a Pirates hats.
