Weird how we never see any females clambering to do these jobs ?

Interesting point! 🤔 I guess it’s one of those stereotypes that keep lingering around. It’s not that women can’t or won’t do these jobs-it’s more about the opportunities and social expectations that play a big role. I know plenty of women who would totally crush it in these roles if they had the chance or interest! What do you think it would take to see more women breaking into these kinds of fields? 💪👷♀️

@@voyageastonishing I speak from experience. Having been a UK construction engineer and onsite manager for 18yrs I have lost count of the endless apprenticeship schemes our company have used in the name of diversity & equality, and quite disheartened when being allocated apprentices who have not been to college to even learn the basics more than a few weeks, instead of 6mnths, before being fast tracked through to the onsite teams only to see 90% of them drop out or not bothering to turn up. No amount of enticements and incentives can take away the reality of women not wanting to work in the construction industry because it's hard work and can be dangerous.

Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective! It’s always valuable to hear firsthand insights, especially from someone with your level of expertise. I can understand how frustrating it must be to see so many programs not yielding the desired results. The challenges of attracting and retaining talent in such a demanding field are real, and it raises important questions about how to truly support diversity in meaningful ways. What do you think would be the most effective approach to prepare and motivate newcomers-regardless of gender-to thrive in construction? 🤔💡
