Jonah AH, I totally disagree with you. This piece is simply amazing! I am a life long Jazz enthusiast and in my opinion, this piece was done with class and creativity. Candy Dulfer is one of the best in the business. I cant stop listening to this. Candy is a class act. Elevator music? Really? Far from it. The sax compliments the original sound, because it was done right!

This composition from the late, great Roy Hargrove is simply outstanding as was this performance. Hard to make a "standard" in jazz due to the virtually unmatched brilliance, virtuosity, and creativity of the jazz masters of yesteryear (Satchmo, Duke, Bird, Miles, Dizzy, Monk, Trane, etc, etc, etc!). But Roy Hargrove did just that. Bravo!

@acey1538
@acey1538 6 жыл бұрын
It's because they took a tune that's meant to be funky and slotted it into a smooth jazz Kenny G band and expected it to work. The flugel player has chops and played some really cool licks, but the fact that the rhythm section doesn't interact at all and the saxophone player has no actual chops outside of her normal rep of lounge hotel jazz just makes you want to hear a group of actual musicians play it. This has more than Roy's on KZbin and it absolutely shouldn't because he's a world class player in a world class group and this is something you would hear in a hotel.

Agreed. Besides, which one of Roy's versions exactly? At least one, coincidentally from a venue in Belgium not far from this one at Leverkusen, is seriously disjointed. Technical comparisons are pointless in music, it either touches you or it doesn't. Without knowing what the version that happened to be recorded first sounded like, people can just openmindedly enjoy. Hence the views.

Although I am mainly a drummer. When I was younger like 11-13 years old. I did play alto saxophone and clarinet for about a year or so. But the saxophone is my all-time favourite instrument. And doesn't matter whether you're male or female. Either you've got it or you don't. And this girls got it. I love her music.

I have been a life long contemporary, urban jazz fan and [though I respect Roy Hargrove's original version] ~ this rendition of "Strasbourg - St. Denis" is hot, full of life, tonally beautiful, innovative... and just a 'smokin beautiful piece of music. The man on the flugelhorn Jan Van Duikeren, wow, what a gifted talented player. All in all, they truly give this song a professional contemporary jazz ~ upgrade.

#Attraction of live venue video, #duo, #music performance speed is the fastest. # Realism and deep bass, # stage LED lighting, # camera division and cut division, stage LED lighting 0: 00 seconds, 0: 06 seconds, 0: 10 seconds and several places, camera division and cut division 0: At 18 seconds, 0:22 seconds, and 0:25, the duo of alto saxophone and flugelhorn, which was in charge of the parts to be played, impressed me with the wonderful nuances of the performance. Also, the camera split video of the multiple TV camera switching operator switcher is wonderful. 🙌👍❤️ Thank you. 😊

Clever mathematicians who still can't understand how the universe works should listen to Jan Van Duikeren's flugelhorn solo. I doubt they'll be able to explain its beauty either. And so it seems, creating beauty is easier than understanding it.
