What’s so special about Star Wars episodes 1-6 is that they are made by a collection of the some of the most talented artists in the industry all working under the unified vision of one man who gives them the freedom to express themselves and push themselves to the limits without being bound by the corporate greed and politics of Hollywood and big studios.

It is a pleasure to watch Star Wars because George Lucas cares so much about it until the very moment he has to give it up and put the film out. And even after it is out on a type of media, he still care about what he and fans might want changed. We may not like some or many of the changes he makes, but we should just be grateful that he cares to do so. Do we need those few extra animals, aliens or sounds. No, but he cares to further enlarge the world he has shown us that he is fascinated with.

+odeerg You seem to either be incredibly stupid or incredibly naive. George didn't do this because he's an "artist". No, don't fool yourself with that bullshit. You actually think Lucas would come back just so he could express himself artistically? Lucas is a BUSINESSMAN. NOT an ARTIST. He marketed the films to kids (Jar Jar) because they're the easiest fucking demographic to pander to. He then crammed all the shit he could into every shot in order to make merchandise. Why do you think Sam Jackson was Mace Windu? Because he brings in the African-American demographic, he brings in the moneyyyyyyyyyy. The prequels are a soleless, by the numbers, cookie-cutter pieces of shit that was only meant to make money, not to express any vision, artistic or not. Do NOT fool yourself by corporate bullshit.
@histguy1018 жыл бұрын
+Anime Slam You seem very passionate about this subject, but perhaps misguided. Until 2012, Lucasfilm was not a corporation, but a privately owned, independent film company. Based not out of Hollywood, but the Bay Area. The same goes for ILM, LucasArts, etc. Sam Jackson lobbied for a role in TPM. he then lobbied for his character to return and have more screen time in AOTC, and again in ROTS. He has since lobbied for a role in Ep7. He just loves Star Wars. Lucas can absolutely be considered an artist. Why else would he tale such a proactive role in filming the movies? Stephen Spielberg has said in numerous interviews that he begged Lucas(his words) to let him direct one of the prequels and George wouldn't let anyone else touch "his baby". Why would he personally proofread and edit the film Novelizations and related novels? Or why would he take such an active storytelling role in the award winning "The Clone Wars" animated series, which he gave a ridiculously high budget and paid for himself? If he's so greedy, why does he spend most of his time throughout the year sponsoring, hosting, and donating to Charities? Why did he sell his company for so much less than its value to Disney and then proceed to donate the profits entirely to the Arts?
@ihatepewdiepie41738 жыл бұрын
Anime Slam, okay then, how greedy is Disney?? They played it much safer than Lucas so I mean.... They got critical aclallim and money for copying his story.

+kasF He actually voiced a lot of critic during that private test screening of Ep1. Watch that video. Must be frustrating. Lucas is the boss. But Ben saw the flaws early on. I found Ep2 to be completely unwatchable. Terrible dialog, bad acting, AWFUL CG (looks like a video game) and Obi-wans Mullet. The only good thing about this movie is John Williams score.

I could be wrong, but wasn't he also involved in the editing process?
@SianaGearz9 жыл бұрын
kasF It's possible; but that too starts after principal photography is complete. The flaws are long baked in. Chances are though, the movies would have been even harder to sit through without Ben's involvement. Really such a tragedy though. Everybody gives their utmost effort, probably even George, but basically they can't help but bake and polish a smelly turd.

I appreciate and admire all the hard work that went into making the prequels, and I know that these people worked their butts off, and did the best they could, but in my opinion they just tried to go too big with everything. Especially in Episodes 2 and 3. A lot of the times it's like watching a cartoon. I wish they'd tried to match them more with the look of the OT. I know these movies were made at different times, and with different technologies available at their disposal, but I'd like to at least feel like I'm watching 2 trilogies that take place in the same galaxy, and I just don't. I wish they'd tried to make the prequels in the early 90's, maybe then they would have matched more, but then again if they had they probably would have had even cheesier effects than they do now. I don't know.

I think, as much credit as George deserves for everything, he does too much to stifle the influence of all the talented artists that worked on these movies. There's seriously so much time, effort, and skill that went into making every movie, there's no reason they should be anything less than incredible. I think he probably should have been less rigid when it comes to the creative freedom of everyone involved.

Nobody else had any right to question him, because he was the one that wrote the script and paid their salaries. Lmao, the funniest thing is you pretending that Lucas never had complete creative control. It's his film, you complete bozo, he decides what the "academy award winning sound designers" do.
