Mr & Mrs Adventure this video appeared in my news feed while I am waiting to have the big furniture removed from my apartment. I have been going crazy trying to find a vehicle on Oahu or Maui. I seriously never would have thought of this option. I live in Salt Lake City and the last day in my apartment is the 9th of January. Please know you just saved me a tremendous amount of scrambling for a place to stay while looking for my own vehicle! Also watching this I can tell Maui feels better to me than Oahu. Absolutely nothing wrong with Oahu... I have been doing a ton of research. Seriously the universe was just at work...I never never never never would have thought of this as an option to find my own vehicle and a place to stay. Huge thank you and aloha!😷❄️☃️🤪🌬️⛵🌴

We are very excited for your new chapter of life in Hawaii and happy to help you think of a temporary solution. We would not suggest a van as an end all solution to avoid an apartment in Maui or Oahu due to the limited parking options and close proximity to many homeless, but as a short term in between, it's will serve you well. I need to comment on your comment about the homeless. I live in a city. I do not fear human beings without a home. When my Jack dog was alive we would go for a walk to the library where human beings that don't have a home live in tents. Jack dog would run up to them and give them so much love and they would give my baby lots of love. Because Jack dog couldn't go for hikes we had to stick to the city streets and when a human being without a home needed some love they would drop to their knees to get some love from my baby. I have no worries about, "being in close proximity to the homeless."

Stephanie Garrett 🥰 I was determined to get my hula on after watching Rodney rock it for so long!! LOVING the experience of hitchhiking on your Hawaiian Westy adventure! Brings back great memories. By the way, eggs can be kept without refrigeration in Europe because they are not washed. My understanding is that once washed, as they are in North America, they lose some natural protection and should be refrigerated to avoid bacteria growth. So you might want to eat those eggs up fast!

Loved having you there with us in the Westy! I loved being able to drive this vintage van and feel like I was living in the 80s with oldies rock playing. We have to say that van was a blast to take pictures with and get so many smiles from other on the road looking at us. Did not know about that with the eggs. Thanks for sharing. That would make sense. We tried to buy local Hawaiian eggs that did not have a mainland stamp on them since these were supposed to be much more fresh and they didn't have to be shipped in. We love boiling them for lunches too.

If you find fresh local eggs they will actually last better without refrigeration. Anything you buy in the grocery, float them in a cup of water before using. If they sink and lay on the bottom they are good, sitting up or floating not so much.

Became so excited when you said you were going vegan. Though eggs and no animal products (honey, dairy, meat, fish, poultry ) that you eat or wear (pearls, feathers, shells, silk, leather, wool, ivory) or use (toiletries/cosmetics/cleaning supplies+) that were tested on animals is vegan. Putting compassion for all that breathes ahead of all else is Veganism. Eating plants for personal and planetary health is a start - that's called being Plant Based. Just a loving lesson surrounded in loving wishes for all bright empathic spirits. :)

Just watched one of your videos where you had a swing in your van. LOVED it. Have you ever done this in a smaller van like the Westfalia? Would love to have a swing in my VW campervan but not sure how to do it. Do you have a video on this?

It's a really cool feature to have a swing. We have not done it in a smaller van but with the right steel straps bolted into the structural beams in the ceiling it should work. They are pretty strong. Let us know if you try it. Good luck!

Loved the episode and the tour! I do want to pop in and point out, though, that the reason that we refrigerate eggs here is because they get washed and have one less major layer of protection against the air and stuff. So, unfortunately once eggs are washed and put in the refrigerator they need to stay there, as opposed to if they had never been refrigerated in the first place like they are in Europe :(

@@Mrandmrsadventure Na, the color of eggs is all genetic. Also, Organic eggs don't have to be brown. Non organic eggs can be brown. Organic eggs can be white. (or they both can be different colors). The stores pretty much selling all brown organic eggs and all white non organic eggs is just a marketing thing.

I hope you are safe with the eggs. In the US, our washing system make the eggs lose the natural defense provided by the cuticle and will need refrigeration from that point forward. Rubbing them will mineral oil can help, but is not a perfect solution. loved this video!!

Beautiful! I just wanted to say.. the cost of the "home" wasnt included. Whether you ship your own or rent, its gotta add a couple grand to the cost, correct? I researched Outdoorsy. There are van rentals available from 50 to 300$/night. So 700 to 3plus grand for sleep space.

Yes, you are correct. The price of the home/van was not included because it varies seasonly. It looks like you found the amount by putting in particular dates for the booking. When we were there it was around $150 per night. Cheers!

Wonderful but all mostly illegal. Sadly Maui has very little legal camping, long waiting lists for reservations and not next to the ocean. One family was killed in Kihei sleeping alongside the road near sugar beach like you did, Rear ended. Please folks be careful.😢😢

It was roughly 82F during the days and 74F at night time. As close as it gets to perfect.

You can only not refrigerate eggs if they haven't been washed or refrigerated ever. You should keep eggs that you buy in the grocery store that have already been refrigerated in a fridge or you're risking salmonella. Just a pro tip from a chicken farmer.

Good question. Propane issues with the cooling element. If it was ours we would fit it however it's a rental and most people stay 7 or 8 nights and a cooler works fine.
