Saw him in concert at Madison Square Garden, it was called the Main Event. He was introduced by Howard Cosell....he climbed through the ropes just like a boxer for a heavy weight fight. He ended the concert with “My Way”...there were a lot of big stars there that night but when he hit that last note everyone was on their feet screaming....the little folks like me...and the big stars like Robert Redford...the DVD of the concert is around....do yourself a favor...watch it!!!

@auapplemac19763 жыл бұрын
This was recorded toward the end of his career and his wonderful clear voice was getting a bit ragged, but it sure suited the lyrics. For me his '50s stuff is the best especially his Wee Small Hours album. His second best period is his Big Band years.
@goytabr2 жыл бұрын
That movie has an unintentionally funny scene for speakers of Portuguese. Frank's character gets happy because it's payday and he has money to spend. So he goes: "Payday! Payday!" That sounds almost identical to "peidei" in Portuguese, which means "I have farted." Now you can imagine the audiences bursting into laughter with a man happily shouting "I have farted! I have farted!" 🤣🤣🤣

When singer Paul Anka was on vaccation or maybe some gig at the French Riviera he heard a guy playing this song in a hotel lobby. He immediately fell in love with the song and asked the guy right away if he could by it! According to himself he bought it with Sinatra in mind since he was fed up with the business and was thinking of quitting. This song became Sinatra's like anthem a song he finished every concert with. Paul Anka said in an interview that he knew this song would pay for his children's college!!

My dad was a huge Frank Sinatra fan. We played this song at his memorial when he died. Nine months later I was out with friends celebrating my first birthday after his death. I excused my self to use the men’s room at the bar we were at. This song was playing over the sound system (different than what was in the bar). To this day I’m convinced my dad was there with me. I can’t hear this song now without thinking of that memory and crying.

He said he learned how to breath correctly while singing by watching how Tommy Dorsey controlled his breathing while playing the trombone . That lead to Sinatra's magnificent phrasing.
