Wow! A pirate, a ferry and a train in the first few minutes. Then that amazing road. 😎👍

All good movies should start out with a pirate, a ferry and a train! 🤣

What an awesome day! I get Sharon"s excitement to see a train - they're like some mythical folklore these days! Loved her reaction - "we're GLAMPING!" nice surprise to spring, especially if she though you had to set the tent up ☺ The GO Rd is amazing, I loved it, incredible scenery, and you did so well to get little traffic going your direction. Seems to take forever to go over the Otways section, I remember that! did you just get lost? 🤔🤣

With so many train lines and crossings on the journey, it was great to finally see a train! We saw another long one 2 days later heading home from the GOR as well. I saw more long trains in SA recently than on this trip. We didn't have camping gear on that trip, so she wasn't expecting camping but I hadn't given any clues as to where I'd booked, so she had no idea! Probably expected a dodgy pub! I remember the Otways sections taking ages both times I've done it as an adult, even though in terms of kilometres, it really isn't that far! Umm, yeah, Captain U-Turn to the rescue!

That looks amazing! Very envious. The ships must have wrecked on all the bends! 😀

HaHa! Yeah, I imagine they would have had trouble getting around those bends. 🤣

That train line also sees the iconic Blues Train on which we’ve travelled twice. It’s an excellent outing.

That was great. I've ridden the GOR heaps of times on the motorbike as well as the pushie so know it intimately. I was grinning like bit of an idiot hearing all the excitement from your pillion (Sharon?). It's always fun observing somebody's initial reaction to the road - and you had a stunning looking day. However my biggest highlight was seeing the steam train in operation at Queenscliff - something I have never seen myself... great timing on your behalf!

That's awesome mate! If I'd stayed in Victoria I reckon I would have ridden/driven it way more than I have. I went on 3 school camps to Torquay but I've only been on the whole road (the best bit to Apollo Bay anyway) a handful of times. Even less continuing westward to Warnambool. Yeah Sharon was pretty excited and it was the perfect weather for her to experience it for the first time. She was so happy to be there! But the long ride home from the 12 Apostles she didn't enjoy so much! 🤣 We were pretty happy to see that train. I didn't know it existed so it was great timing as we'd talked about going to see Puffing Billy but didn't get around to it.

@@MrAusadventure I reckon the Otway section is the best part of the GOR. Unfortunately the speed limit has been reduced in many places now - as has the speed limit on many of the great motorcycling roads in Victoria. Living in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne it is a fair hike to the GOR so we usually do it as a two day ride to Warrnambool and back. Having said that it seems a bloody long way home when you have reached Anglesea on the return leg... not much motorcycling fun after that 😆
@MrAusadventure4 ай бұрын
@@andrewrose9707 Yeah, it's been the same in NSW and QLD from what I've seen with speed limits being reduced on popular riding roads. Luckily in the eastern suburbs you're on the correct side of the city for the best riding roads in Victoria though! 😁

And the ferry. Wish it was that smooth last week. I had to stay with the bike. No tiedowns for it. 45 mins of struggling to stop it implanting itself on a Mercedes.
@MrAusadventure4 ай бұрын
Yeah, it was a dream the day we did it, no tie downs and no issues. But I remember you talking about your trip or posting about it. What a pain!

@@MrAusadventure it was. I had my weight on the side-stand and hanging onto the handlebar. At one point when the ferry "lurched", the front wheel lifted off the deck and I thought that I'd be squashed between the bike and the M-B behind me. The guy in the M-B (reading the Fin Review), looked a bit concerned...

@@mjpt57 Wow! That's insane! You'd think they would have tie downs for weather like that!
