Rabies is almost exclusively in bats in developed countries . Mammals rarely have it in developed countries because it has been controlled. Also the only treatment that works is VERY new and somewhat dangerous so they would only do it in certain situations. Giving a vaccine after a bite is an option but again not something a doctor wants to do.

That's what I thought, too. Geez. Brave is one thing. Being dumb is another. She and 2 kids were home alone. She should have never gone outside. She should have just called police and let them check the outside of the house. They don't mind. In fact, I think they'd prefer that over having to come later to investigate the murders of 2 little kids and their mom. ☹️

That second story struck home. I had a similar incident where I thought I heard something horrible happening when I was around 7-8. I've always had super human level hearing. I can even hear dog whistles. We lived in an upper middle-class suburban neighborhood in Northern Virginia. I woke up in the middle of the night hearing a woman screaming bloody murder for help. I ran down the hallway and woke up my mom to tell her. She comforted me, told me it was probably a nightmare because no one else heard anything, and I went back to bed. I was visiting home during a break at college one year when she finally told me the truth. She called the police after she sent me to bed that night and insisted they come search within the next two streets from us because she knew how good my hearing was. She called back multiple times to check up on her report. The police arrived at a house 2 streets down from us and saved a woman from her husband who had been attacking her with a hatchet. She'd managed to lock herself in their bathroom, and they said she'd have died from blood loss if they'd arrived any later. My hearing and my mom's instincts saved her life. We were the only house that called in her screams. No one else reported hearing them.

The Second Story really brought up unpleasant memories for me, when I was in Eighth grade, I had been sick for a whole week, my stomach didn't feel good, I could barely hold anything down, and I could barely climb out of bed. Then on a Thursday night, around 1am, something hard hit my head, then I looked towards my window to find someone right outside my window, with his hands on my windowsill. He asked if this was my sister's house, I tiredly said yes, then got up and went to the bathroom, thinking I was just imagining things. Then, when I climbed back in bed, the rocks he had thrown at me hurt my back, and I ran to my parent's room, telling them that someone was outside. My mom had no idea what I was saying then, I had finally said it clearly and my parents were instantly up and alerted. My dad grabbed his gun, my mom walked with me back to my room and saw the rocks in my bed, so they knew I wasn't lying. Turns out, it was my sister's boyfriend. She had asked him to come over, so they could 'do stuff' but she didn't expect him to come to the house at 1am. He hiked 5 miles to our house, traumatized me, and apparently my sister was 'traumatized' the worst. Anyway, I don't know who'll see this, but I just felt like sharing my story.

I have some avid train nerds in my family and it is a well known fact that mannny taggers get hit by trains because it is very hard to hear a train coming when you are directly in its travel path. Weird, but true. If the helicopter was going straight at him at a decent speed there is a chance he wouldn't of even had time to look up before impact, regardless of headphones. This wasn't because he did anything wrong. Headphones are far more dangerous at night or in secluded areas where animals or people can sneak up on you. I find it odd that it's implyed that if he had not been wearing headphones, he would've survived. It's a large assumption and kinda victim blamey. I am sorry this happened to him, truely a tragedy.

When I was about 6 years old my cousin was babysitting me. He was probably 18 or 19, but when I went to bed, I kept seeing weird shadows outside the window. Through the curtain it looked like 2 men skulking about outside the apartment. I got up, scared and went and told my cousin, but he just told me I was seeing things. To this day I still have a phobia of someone being outside my window, at 36, and I'll never live on the bottom floor of an apartment building. All this to say that second story is gonna keep me up tonight for sure.

It happened in October 31 1996 (Halloweeen night, don't forget that). And one of the victims on the ground, I must tell you his story and when I finish, you will not believe my words. There was a birthday celebration in a house on that street that same day. The brother of one of the crash victims was present, he works for the government as tax adviser for what you call in USA, IRS. His brother never travelled in his life in a plane, afraid of plane crashes and during the birthday, they were talking about such crashes and the danger of living nearby a very busy international airport like that one... and he heard his brother saying: "you are crazy! risking your life travelling all around the country without end because of your job, you should change and stop this lifestyle, it will end up killing you. I will never fly in my life!". It is true. His brother was very afraid of planes and it is also true, our other guy in the story had to cross the whole country because of his tiresome work for the government and that's an ordinary thing for such people. Sometimes they visit 3 States in a week. Lots of work and stressful... well, the birthday celebration came to an end, the brother who never travelled in a plane said goodbye to everybody and holding the hand of his 5 year old son was crossing the street when the plane 402 fell on top of him.... Another lady, pregnant, who lived nearby and had to call the ambulance to carry her to the hospital was on a public phone calling the paramedicals when the plane turbine hit her, she died on the spot... Well, the tax adviser is still alive and continues his lifestyle, very much alive and his brother who never set feet in a plane died with his kid. I wish that was all a bad joke, but it is not. It is horrid and it is true. Sometimes reality is more bloody and sad than fiction.

It seems like this stuff always happens to the best people. I knew a guy I didn't really feel close to but admired as a person, who was a friend of some mutual friends who died of a heart attack at 19 due to a freak infection in the lining of his heart. Like in this story just the kindest dude with a great family and so much potential. Even though I wasn't that close to him that was the hardest I ever cried since loosing my grandma when I was little. It's just so shocking and unfair, tragic deaths of young people, especially when they are such particularly virtuous young people.

A mastiff's tooth cut my scalp open as a child. I had scared him, and he didn't really bite. Just as he came down from jumping up, his tooth caught the top of my head. Left a 1 inch gash that needed skin staples. For years I would feel shooting pains as though that tooth was still jabbing me in the head. There's so many nerves in your scalp. So I fully believe that must have been absolute hell to keep feeling those shooting pains. I also pleaded with my parents and the neighbors that it was my fault for scaring the dog. I was trying to hug him and had just had surgery. Neighbors were surprised I was scared he would be put down to the point of tears. I was eight years old. He thankfully died of old age and not from my mistake.

Dreams, sleep & the way the brain works are all so strange.. I’ve had "lucid dreams” where I realized I was dreaming & could control myself in my dream. Once I was dreaming I was doing something in the kitchen when I realized I was dreaming, so I looked around the dream kitchen & saw a newspaper on the table so I decided to pick it up & see what "news” was in it, but when I tried to read the words the letters were constantly changing shapes.. it was like my brain couldn’t make things up anymore because I had realized I was somewhat controlling it. I also had what I thought was sleep paralysis once where my mind completely woke up, I was fully awake & alert mentally but couldn’t get my body to wake up. I was struggling to sit up but my brain & body just weren’t cooperating. I’ve also heard people say that when you dream you’re falling from a tall building you’ll always wake up before you hit the ground, otherwise you’d die in real life, but that’s not true because I had a dream where I was falling from a tall building & slammed right into the sidewalk. I didn’t die in real life :)

This video reminds me of something that happened in my family. While I was growing up my aunt, uncle and cousin lived in a rough neighborhood and so my aunt was always on guard. On one particular winters night my uncle was working late so my aunt and cousin were home alone. A strange noise woke my aunt up and she crept to the front door to investigate. She got up slowly and quietly to peek out the peep hole and noticed a man in a red baseball cap holding a present. This really freaked her out because it was after midnight and she was wondering what this man was doing? She quickly made it back to her bedroom as quietly as she could and called 911. She described the situation and the cops were there in minutes. The 911 operator told her the cops were there but the suspect must be gone because there was no one in sight. Feeling better she walked up to look out her peephole again and saw the officers but the man was still on her front porch. She yelled out that he was still there as she could see him. The cops answered back that there was no way any man was out there because they were literally there and didn't see anybody. They finally decided she was just a paranoid lady who was off her rocker and decided to leave. The next day she told my uncle all about the story. He gets up, looks out the peephole, nods his head and asks her to look again. She does, and is completely shocked to see the man is still there!! Then my uncle opened the door, took down the Christmas wreath, closed the door and asked her to look again. Sure enough the man was gone! That was the last Christmas my aunt was allowed to have a Christmas wreath on her front door. 😂

I can understand why he was so shaken up after seeing a moose for the first time. You don't realize how big they actually are unless you've seen one in person. First time I saw one I was taking my daughter to the bus stop for school at 6am and this huge bull moose just casually stepped out of the trees and into the road in front of us. I was driving a small pick up truck and it was dwarfed by the size of the moose. My kid went wide eyed and just slowly slid down in her seat saying "Ma.. what is that?!?". I was pretty much doing the same thing and all I could say was, "Moose.. that's a freaking moose". And the whole time the moose is just standing in the middle of the road, blocking the way and staring right at us. I swear he was thinking "That's right puny humans. Tremble before me for I am a forest God". Whole encounter lasted about 5 minutes but seemed like 30. It was such a humbling and awe inspiring moment.

Can confirm - I don’t know why but I always thought they were the size of horses, bigger than deer but not ridiculously big. So so wrong. Happened across your channel by accident and have been binging, and uh... very surreal to see the Kootenays and Cranbrook mentioned, particularly that crash. I was doing contract work for a newspaper in the same franchise in a nearby town. Never thought I'd see it mentioned on KZbin. There's some very cool Haunted Kootenays webpages and novels, if you're ever looking to dive more into things. Creston (well, Yahk, technically) even had its own cannibal serial killer; I recall that the novel documenting his crimes was banned from the local school library up into the 90s.

I grew up in Cranbrook and my family knew Isaiah. Everyone always remembered him for his amazing smile! I also happened to know one of the men in the helicopter, Robert. He was my friends father. It happened during school hours at recess or lunch hour (I cant quite remember but we were all outside), and a bunch of us saw the helicopter crash from our school field. It was loud and close, and I remember everyone saying that the pilot was a hero that day and had saved a bunch of lives, as the helicopter was going to crash on the school feild had he not redirected it just in time. That was a very tragic day for everyone involved, and I did not know about Isaiah's friend being the one to take the photos of the crash though, that just makes it so much sadder! Rest in peace to everyone involved in the accident. I was super surprised to hear my little town get a mention! Thanks for the great stories Mrballen! :)

So I instantly became hysterical… but hey, at least now I know every horrific detail of what happened to my best friend, right? Sucks because me & rescue dude were def kinda into each other, but we both knew there was no way for us to bounce back from that exchange.
