Barry, I know you likely won't see this but I just wanted to thank you for always being you, and for singing something inside so strong. Yesterday was my first father's day without my Dad and it was a hard day, but your videos usually make me smile, but today even more so. You have the same energy as my Dad who also loved to cook and was excellent at it(couldn't cook before he got married though). Something inside so strong was a song that he absolutely loved and you singing it in the kitchen with Boston just filled me with joy. He loved to cook & sing and he loved dogs and his family so much. Thank you for making me smile. ❤❤❤

this may have been mentioned before, but I didn't see it - the reason the underside (or top) of the puff pastry dessert looked so pale is because the honey/syrup is supposed to go directly on the parchment lined baking tray, then you put the fruit on top of that. that will caramelize the honey and help to seal the fruit into the pastry and make a nice crispy top.

I grew up in southern Connecticut. The usual grinder is more like a subway roll, but it is a hoagie and it is a sub. The Italians love the heavier roll for their sandwichs but sometimes everything slips out. That sandwich reminds me of one they would make in New Haven. They would also put in roasted peppers and not the mayo. just oil and vinegar

The way I have always had it was meats and cheese on bottom side of the roll. Lettuce, onions, oil and vinegar on top then put it open faced in a pizza oven for 5 minutes. Pull it out, close it up, wrap it in paper. Tomatoes were never on it and never mayo.

I'm nearly 60 and ever since I was a kid my sister and I have been doing the upside-down pastry thing. We'd wait for all the leftovers from my grandma's pie to be smooshed together then divided between us. Then we'd cut up apples or plums and cover them with the pastry, egg wash and sugar them and they'd go in the oven after the pie was cooked for our pudding! Ain't anything new, despite what TikTok thinks!

It was a good day! Not heard of that, what is it?
@melissalambert7615 Жыл бұрын
@@mrbarrylewis First a Muffuletta is never heated. It's ham, salame, provolone cheese and olive mix in a large round bread but the chiabatta works well. The olive mix is chopped green olives, black olives, Italian garden veggie mix (giardiniera) and I like marinated artichokes, olive oil. As you did today, hollow out the bread. Put down olive mix top and bottom. Lots of the luncheon meat and cheese. Put back together. Wrap in cling film, twice. Chill for at least two hours, six is good. Cut into wedges. Sit, enjoy.

Excellent job on the grinder sandwich. Having the bread a bit flatter helps in eating and not trying to wrap your teeth around a huge domed top of the bread roll. The fruit pastries reminded me of open-faced Pop-Tarts, or something like that. They looked fun and a bit of whipped cream or chocolate drizzle would be fun as well. Great job!!!

The yellow peppers on the grinder, are also called banana peppers in the USA. Submarine Sandwiches are called hoagies in the western Pennsylvania. Really most of Pennsylvania. Grinders in New Engand. Heroes in New York City and New Jersey. I am from both New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. I work as a Sandwich Artist at a Subway for almost 6 years. I have heard them called each of these names. But, most here in northeast PA call them hoagies. I just call them a Sub. I love watching you. You make my day happy. ❤ and blessings to you, Mrs.B and the girls.
