I think you have to keep your first gadget on his side in the freezer because off the water that might still be around the herbs after washing, so the water wouldn't be at the blade blocking the whole thing but more on the side, it's just a guess.

I bet I know why they want you to freeze it on its side. *Surface Area*. If it's lying on it's side- there will be thinner layers for the frozen shelf's cold to get thru. Seems to be relying on surface conductivity as well, from ice to plastic to herbs.

The egg one can be done with a coffee cup of appropriate width covered with a paper plate. The weight of a paper plate allows the right amount of steam to escape (so it doesn't blow up) while keeping enough in to properly cook your egg. As a bachelor, it really is the best way to cook a scrambled egg. I crack in 2 eggs to a Campbell's Soup mug and beat, place in microwave for 50-90 seconds (because microwaves vary, as well as elevation, humidity, atmospheric pressure). Start with less time, check, add as needed. You can use your fork to stir the cooked egg when checking, allowing to to control exactly how cooked the egg is (for different egg consistencies, runny to fluffy) You can stir in cheese, bacon bits, seasonings. Be aware the residual heat in the mug will continue to cook the egg, so remove the scramble when you reach desired consistency.. You can use the paper plate! Using this method, I don't need a separate gadget, breakfast is ready in about 2-3 minutes (time needed for toast), rinse the mug, run a nylon brush around it to remove egg residue, and use it for you morning juice... and only have a dirty mug to show for your full breakfast.

Squid ink is great if you cook it out, because the flavor isn't really an issue once it's in a dish. I definitely suggest it over the charcoal, because squid ink won't have the adverse effects on people taking prescription medications. It's great in pastas and rice dishes, so I think it would go very well with fish and chips - either the fish breading or on the potatoes. Also, just from the look of the Bob Ross toaster, I'd suggest stepping it down to 110/120V.

fun fact: the reason why the lid on the herb grater was opposite to normal is because if it were normal righty-tighty lefty-loosy, the friction of the frozen herbs against the razors would cause the bottom to un-screw! also, one would assume they want you to put it on its side in case of water left over in the herbs, if left upright it would pool and freeze in the bottom, ruining the blades when you try to use it, but sideways it pools on the side in the grooves, so likely can just be ignored.

@@Chriswsm its not about the position he's holding it, its about the threading on the container, another example of where left-threaded screws are used is in the pedals of bicycles, you constantly apply a counter-clockwise force to the left pedal's screw as you pedal the bike, so if it were a normal clockwise screw you would be constantly losening it and unscrewing your pedals.

SQUID INK IDEA: - Homemade pasta with squid ink, made into lasagne sheets - Tomato sauce with either charcoal or ink, depening if the taste changes? - Minced meat is dark anyway, beef is darker than chicken, wouldnt stick out in the sauce? - Cheese, there are some with ash in the rind and in the middle (called morbier I think), but these are usually a bit funky and mostly white anyway.... BUT... Sitting here eating white pizza with a creme fraiche sauce.... - Add ink/charcoal to a creme fraiche sauce, and drizzle on the lasagne after it's done? This way you will see when the cheese is actually browned too! ZEBRA LASAGNE!

Just thought of an awesome hack seeimg your second gadget. I find peeling kiwis very tedious so it's the last fruit to be eaten just before it rots away. I know one chef suggested you can have the peel but personally i can't.. Not just yet Cut into slices and then use round pastry cutters (if you have any) to cut round them. Having different sizes is ideal. I have a set of 6. Thanks Barry 👍

Don’t feel bad about enjoying something how you enjoy it, when other people try to say it’s wrong, it tells you a lot more about how unhappy they are in themselves than the rights or wrongs of strength of tea, cream or jam first, what temperature your steak should be, tomatoes or not in beef mince sauces etc etc.

For the squid ink, I once had croquetas de calamares while in Spain. Had no idea what I ordered, looked suspicious, tasted nice.

Try Indian tea Here's how I like it Heat up milk (yes straight up) Add sugar, tea powder. If you can get your hands on a brand often used in india like Society, that would be pretty awesome (we don't use tea bags usually) Add a small cinnamon stick, bay leaf, one clove (otherwise its over powerinh), A couple of green cardomom pods, mash them in a mortar pestle. Let ite brew for sometime until its brown. Pour in a cup through a small sieve, enjoy with biscuits, or pretty much any snack I hate strong tea flavor unless it's balanced with milk Love that stuff

Great video! I wanted to Thank You on the Veggie Prep Kit. I broke my arm about ten days ago and am in a crazy splint and sling, waiting to for my arm to go down in swelling so I can get my cast. So I am down to trying to do everything with one arm. I was cooking and I needed to chop up onions and bell peppers, I managed cleaning out the peppers and I had my husband cut the onions in half. I needed both diced and was able to put them in my veggie prep kit and with one hand I had them diced nicely with a few presses and was done with all my prepping and finished cooking supper faster than when I was cooking with both hands. I love my veggie prep kit! It is AWESOME llll

Air is a pretty good insulator, by laying it down you maximise the surface area touching cold stuff in the freezer meaning it cools quicker, I suspect the 'leave it in the freezer for x mins is dependant on proper surface contact

I would bet they tell you to lay it on its side so that if the herbs are wet, from being washed, the water doesn't pool and freeze around the blades making it not able to work.

I beat down slices of a pork loin and coat them in egg and then crushed saltine crackers and fry them and serve them just like a cheeseburger, it's a BIG hit in my house

The egg thing: if you add about a tablespoon of water and don't scramble the egg, you can get something very like a poached egg.
