Adam, did you see the tweet from a current employee at MrBeast? He defuncts a lot of this x-employee's points, including why Jimmy's manager and gf was in the video (some contestants suddenly got sick and they didn't have enough stand-bys). He also claims that the x-employee was fired after only a month because of 'erratic behavior' (not even sure what that means). Curious to hear what your thoughts are on the tweet.

This is why actual charitable organizations: 1) have super strict rules and we have to have transparency with our finances, often not just the IRS but with multiple layers of govt & private donors; 2) don’t have lavish buildings or amazing production values - doing good eats up most of the money; 3) have nicely tried to educate the public but it seems like no one will listen until someone they like tells them. This isn’t ok, we cannot be out there making friends with each person just to give them info. This is on audiences too. Do good the right way please I beg you. Social media has reduced real donations because people with unmet emotional needs insist on giving money to creators. No! Give to nonprofits that create the change you are most passionate about. You all are going to flatline the societal safety net, something I know most of you do support, because you enjoy parasocialty so much you’ll just give your money to any scammer or selfish profiteer. Please, I beg you, commit to smart donating and don’t pretend that it’s ok to have good intentions but fail to give to a legit organization. You can Google, you can read. Please, before more people die waiting for society to wake up.
@savannahskye94413 ай бұрын
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory”doing good eats up most value of money” is such an important aspect for people to realize. You literally ethically can not be rich. As my best friend said “if I had that kind of money I wouldn’t have it anymore” as in it would be donated and given to those who truly need money. There’s sadly no way to ethically be rich & if they are, they probably aren’t as charitable and awesome as they portray themselves as. So I was sub-contracted to work for Feastables back in 2022 when it launched, as part of their customer service team through a call center. When the contract was starting, they put out a hiring call for a new client who was coming in that was a 'large KZbinr' who was making a 'healthy snack food company'. We responded to children who texted and emailed us, and occasionally responded to actual issues. Your point at 51:49 is spot on as well, Adam. I cannot tell you how many parents I spoke to who were CONVINCED their child was going to win something and then they only received a coupon to win more product, or even worse, not even that. We had a giant team of over 20 people and within less than 3 months, they'd decided to pull out of the call center and do their customer service work in house rather than contracting out.

As a person with a disability I always thought the curing blindness and deafness videos were super offensive. 1st not everyone wants a cure and also it doesn’t seem like he did much research for the deaf community because they are a proud community and more then likely would stay deaf over getting a choclear implant because it doesn’t always work for everyone and it’s not actual hearing it’s mechanical and the sound can be very hard for a deaf person to adjust to. 2nd I would’ve been more impressed if he had a bunch of people learn ASL and go communicate with the deaf community because majority of them would choose to stay deaf and someone taking time to learn their language is probably more impressive. It also just felt like he was being an ableist savior
@Elizabeth-vz9ei3 ай бұрын
Oh my god yes!!! I just wrote my own comment about it as I am deaf and wear hearing aids and hated that video and him after that! There's always millions of views on children listening to hearing aids for the first time... like it's 10% magical to hear your moms voice for the first time and 90% painful and overwhelming and you're hearing everything painfully usually for most deaf folks and esp children. It's an adjustment that's forced sometimes too- it's a discussion in deaf community. We need ASL for that reason always available and a diff perspective on the "cutesy deaf child listening to hearing aids for the first time" vids 💀
@Angryoyster3 ай бұрын
I wore hearing aids as a child then had a surgery to fix my hearing. Today I work in a hearing clinic and you are so right! Many patients do not want implants, more often than not unless someone is 100% completely deaf they don’t choose to have it done. Furthermore implants only work for a small fraction of deaf patients. I have had to sit down with patients who have began the implant process and been denied for an implant as they don’t meet the requirements. It’s heart breaking when you think you’re so close to a goal only to have it ripped away. I personally could not stand those videos aside from the horrific thumbnails, it felt like a slap in the face to all the people who have a disability and wanted a “cure” and couldn’t have it. Implants are wonderful for people who wish to go through with them and are a good candidate, but they are such a small portion of people that in my opinion it does way more harm then good to broadcast, “look I cured deaf people”. The misconception that that you can cure deafness runs rampant, I always say I’m a hearing practitioner second and a therapist first because damn it’s hard to accept your life will be forever changed and there is nothing you can do. Then you go home and see Mr beast cured deafness and you think hey I can do that. And I have to tell you no you can’t unfortunately.
@KingOfGaymes3 ай бұрын
I’m not deaf nor know anybody who but I’ve seen how the deaf community is and how a majority are against implants and such, so I knew when he did the “curing deafness” videos that they would be PISSED. Also having people learn asl would have been a lot cooler but it’s not something you can just throw money at to make happen instantly, so of course Mr.Beast wouldn’t do that..

I have a social work degree and the emphasis on classical conditioning is terrifying because that's genuinely how we are taught to work with young children. Calling someone a “Minor Attracted Person” needs to stop being a thing. They can only be called that if they NEVER try to act on those feelings and are literally only experiencing attraction (which is still GROSS). there is even a subsection that call themselves “NOMAP” that stands for “non-offending minor attracted person” which means that it was bad enough that the community needed to add a new label to make the distinction. people who are attracted to minors should get help but the idea of a community that even have a “pride” flag for themselves is just… disturbing. even those that consider themselves “non-offending” will still defend watching/reading p0rn that doesn’t involve “real minors” (such as drawings, manga, CGI, and even AI videos now) but all that does is feed into the desire for something more real. and it’s fucked up. it shouldn’t exist in the first place. i think you can say someone is a MAP so long as you’re adding the context that this is what they call *themselves*. and then you can follow up with the truth which is that they’re a ped0.

I felt even more frustrated when some KZbinrs punched down on those speaking out against him by being like "Oh I know you're the deaf community, but I will still call you stupid and not listen to a single thing you're saying because Jimmy's still trying to help you people". And that rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't even just KZbinrs saying that but even the general public. That guy had everyone on a chokehold because he seemed like a generally "good billionaire" to the general public who don't look into things past surface level lol. 52:55 speaking as someone who does retail merchandising and whose husband actually works as a department manager at Walmart, please do not try to “help” set up displays. Companies send out very specific instructions and have very specific contracts with retailers about how much shelf space they get, what products go where, and how the products are to be displayed. You may think you are helping but you are actually making some employees job much harder. I know the main point was this encourages child labour but I just wanted to put that out there as an additional point as to why this is bad.

So, I did a full breakdown about all of the Mr. Beast stuff on my personal page because I'm chronically online and I didn't think a lot of my mom friends would know. A lot of them were grateful for the info. One said she would let her kid still watch Mr. Beast, just say he may not be a nice person. I honestly found it kind of frustrating, because I've only seen a few Mr. Beast videos and I instantly spotted the manipulation in plain sight. It made me kind of sad that my peers didn't spot it, but at least some people are seeing it now. I don't think this will end him because nothing has ended Logan Paul, but maybe a few more people will help break his spell on this younger generation. I can't wait for you to watch the next one. Jake's story is very upsetting and many people have been dismissive.

3:00 using the term “minor attracted person” is so nasty, its normally used by pedophiles to try and defend, excuse or minimize their heinous crimes

Yeah but it is youtube, you cant always come out and say “this person might be a pedophile” it would probably get the video demonetized

mr beast is also part of an ad scam with the games that supposedly five you money. there was a point in my life where that looked enticing and signed up. very stupid of me, but weird that mr beast is tied to that.

i’ve been a mr jimmy beast hater since day one - i hate the whole “vibes” thing as a sole indicator of someone’s actual person but in his case his vibes were rancid from the moment he began making those stupid “counting to one million” videos to me. the whole helping people but only for content thing also always rubbed me the wrong way, it’s not really charity if you profit off of it at the end - it’s a transaction. people getting their panties twisted when others would point out the flaws in his philanthropy was always so weird too, like just because someone does a good thing it doesn’t make them a good person. i hate this whole black and white view of people in the internet has, your favorite content creator isn’t inherently a good person because he spends millions on videos to give off to contestants when he goes on to force them to spend the million bucks the next day for a video to further profit off of it.

I never liked him. It always came off as very exploitative. But when he moved from helping actual people that really have a lot of stuff going on to prank-channel-vibe with a bunch of his friends and stuff where they all act like they're the bees knees, it immediately just felt like David Dobrik: The Reckoning. It's never been 'do this, be kind, because that's important in life, and you never know what happens tomorrow, you could be there one day and have a hard time. So if you can, do something, give your time at the very least'. You know? It was never an aura of 'lets show how people can have a positive impact'. It was always 'look at me, I'm so amazing for doing this, look how horrible this person is doing and now they came across the wonderful me, watch them cry while I change their life with what is pocket change to me'. Maybe it's that little girl who grew up in poverty inside me who just saw right through him, but I certainly never looked at him and thought 'what a good guy'.

I hated him since the he gave hearing aids to people video. I have hearing aids myself since I was two- and it was incredibly ableist the entire video. It felt like savior complex vibes, like stop infantalizing disabled folks and acting holier than thou to pay for something the gov should make cheap and label as a need and not an "accessory." Literally the gov is horrible in helping ppl afford hearing aids. Insurance won't help most times because it's labeled as an accessory. Eff you Mr Beast.

One thing - some of his videos are random subscribers. I’m from NC and know someone who was in the squid games that Mr Beast did along with a ton of other college students as Greenville is a college town, but other than that everything he’s doing is so messed up and I’m speaking on that one person challenge I know of; others could be completely all actors. Just thought I’d add my knowledge from an NC resident and who knows someone who was in a Mr Beast video! I know him personally so I know this is true, but he later put it in his Tinder bio (cringe af lol)
