Just saw the Ludwig video(algorithm recommended) which led me to this. Although I dont think this video is nearly as strong as either your first upload or your most recent, I do think that it would probably have significantly more views had you used a more grabbing thumbnail. Everything about this video, from the title, content, length, etc is super strong but the thumbnail just looks low effort and doesnt really grab your attention. (I mean this with only love, it would make me very happy to see this channel succeed). But yeah there is clearly a pretty good guideline to follow for viral youtube thumbnails and if you put some more focus on that than I see it making a massive improvement. The ludwig video thumbnail is a great example of what to do

I have 2 takes on this: 1. Any good deed free of charge to whoever is receiving it will always be good, no matter what other intentions it might have (like, improving your image). 2. All he asks for is a "thank you". Wouldn't it be the best possible occupation/business in the world to help others, free of charge, and profit off it? Literally everybody wins (As long as you're not harming people, using money from illicit activies, offering untested treatment/drugs/products/etc. Just keeping everything safe). It's one thing to be concerned about people's safety, nothing good usually comes for free, but everyone's take is "boasting about your charity: bad"
@Alex-xj2ik Жыл бұрын
Reading the reply after typing it up, I realise it's pretty long and rambling-ish. Feel free to ignore if you don't feel like reading it, it veers into some odd existentialist and moralistic territory. Just me sharing my opinion on the situation. I have some issues with this. Now, I'm not defendending nor bashing MrBeast, but arguments such as these are common when talking about wealthy people and charity. I don't give a fuck about people who try to look better by donating to charity. The most important part is that it is a good cause, right? Well, here is the thing. An objectively "good cause" doesn't exist. The idea that a "good deed" exists (one that one can "objectively" measure) is wrong. Okay but this is just semantics, so how does this make a difference? Well, look at team Seas for example. It is an initiative to clean up the oceans partially created an backed by MrBeast. That's a good thing, until you realise how supremely useless it is. Unless radical systemic change towards waste, recycling and production of plastics happens, absolutely nothing will happen from shoveling trash out of the ocean with super expensive boats. At face value however, team seas sounds like a good idea. This is the thing about mrBeast, or more specifically his fans, that I don't understand. One can be critical of him in general, without hating every initiative he pulls through. I for one really liked his awareness around poverty and starvation, needing to rely on food banks in the US. Sure, maybe the initiative doesn't help many people itself, but spreading awareness on a relatively obscure/seldom talked about issue among many Americans (or more specifically, normalising and pushing for acceptance for people living on food bank support) has it's own merits. Other initiatives are more or less questionable in my personal opinion. Something that won't benefit anyone in this situation is polarisation. The idea of "pro" or "against" mrbeast is odd. Having nuanced conversations about a certain topic should always be desirable, as long as the conversation itself isn't harmful (example of what i mean by this: having nuanced discussions on whether Hitler was a good guy or bad guy should probably be left out of the public debate. Facism is highly relevant today, and should be talked about, but I doubt leaving room for conversations such as these will lead to anything good at all). Billionare philanthropy is a highly relevant topic in modern times no one really likes to analyse closer. To talk about it without a sense of pride and justice, "us" versus "them" is what in the end will lead to reflection and action. It's easier to say "you're wrong" than to challenge and analyse your own ideas. The comfort of being right is ultimately what leads to these useless discussions. Analysing mrbeasts philanthropy is neglected, and it has become a discussion of his person instead. The discussion isn't centered around "is this kind of philanthropy harmful, beneficial, both or neither?" But rather "Is mrBeast doing this for clout or not?". Last point has little relevance to the wider discussion. And what I think about mrBeast is the following: detached from lower living standards. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth having to rely on him for a problem that should be solved by pushing and advocating for free universal healthcare. But in the end, does any of it really matter? I find his "short-term" philanthropy highly useless, but does it harm anyone? Not sure. Does it help in the long term? Probably not. Does it help a select handful of people in the short term? Yes. The short-term charities are really important (say, disaster relief charity, or food banks), but sustainable change should be the end goal. MrBeast shelling out money for all problems is not a sustainable solution. In certain cases I would argue it to be inappropriate even (like the eye surgery situation), as it normalises the current health care system.
@grogcito Жыл бұрын
@@Alex-xj2ik I don't think it's useless, nor do I think that doing these acts of charities implies the government would be more inclined to neglect its citizens. It's a doomer, blackpilled mentality, and very different from deceiving the general population into thinking that their contributions as individuals are meaningful against climate change and pollution. A rushed plan is always better than a perfect plan 10 minutes later. And also, short term and long term goals can be a thing, not doing anything short term thinking that it will help you achieve your goals long term is foolish. At the end of the day it's just an individual exercising his individual rights in a positive way
@grogcito Жыл бұрын
@@Alex-xj2ik Change comes in small steps my friend. Just because it seems meaningless it doesn't mean we should abandon all hope and just never try to do anything at all unless it's a generalized change to society. At 2:38, i don’t think the post was about mrbeast is bad. Just that it’s bad that someone has to help poor people, by making it a gameshow, even if it’s with the best intentions. Why can’t the medical bill cost actually how much it costs and not 100x. But maybe this person wrote something stupid in an earlier post. Idk Edit: yes this doesn’t have anything to do with mrbeast, but why do we need the help of generous people to help the poor. It’s not the generous peoples job to help the poor.
@aryanram02 Жыл бұрын
thank god someone in the comments made a sane point. its like ppl are getting help but they are required to be a circus and a game show to get it, like in the blind video, once they recover from the blindness Mr beast urges those ppl to extravagantly buy something or in the deafness video the girl is asked to do one of his challenges where she has to buy x amount of toys or something etc idk but the thing is ppl could use that money to make their lives better if it was their choice but Mr beast decides how u are shown and how u will act in the challenges so this is no different from the heavily criticised late night tv reality game shows where money was the center point.

So, I would say something like "Mr Beast leaves something to be desired." I have an opinion similar to "It is a maladjusted society that relies on philanthropy to support its poorer citizens". And Mr Beast is a very public philanthropist, making a great spectacle out of it. Which in some ways is necessary for the philanthropy to continue, but the glamorisation of the whole process undermines the narrative that philanthropy is not a viable solution for systemic inequality. This wouldn't be a problem at all if only Mr Beast took a stance on this in his videos, like if in the blindness one he makes it clear that he cannot help everyone and that these people only need help in the first place because of the flawed healthcare system in the US (and the other countries, which presumably have private healthcare?). Essentially, it boils down to politics. Mr Beast seems to be economically right leaning, favouring the idea that success depends on skill and the fact that he generally seems pretty ignorant of (or at least, never brings awareness to) the systemic flaws in our societ(ies). If Mr Beast was just more vocally left-wing, like pro-public healthcare and environmental regulation and like UBI or something, then I imagine much much less people would take an issue with him. And here I get into a little bit of "Mr Beast is bad", because his reaction to the controversy essentially seemed to be "how can I be a bad person if I donate to charity", a very un-nuanced take that fails to address some valid concerns that some people have. It seemed like he was more concerned with defending his image as a public "good person" than taking constructive criticism on board. Although twitter is a place of hysteric irrationality, and there probably were some people making ludicrous claims about him, so I can understand a combative response (at least he seemed to be trying to be light-hearted, de-escelating, etc.) Alright, whatever.

u make some really really solid points. mostly its the kids and right leaning adults who absolutely cheer for Mr breast because Mr breast's technique of solving issues is throwing money at it, making a big show out of it and putting a bandage to an issue and making it a feel good story. case in point: team seas. it was a disaster, not for Mr beast, he gained millions in money and PR and subscribers but I actually did the math, what they removed since their inception, its thrown back into the ocean within 24 hours so really the entire project was plain bs. if only he used his influence to fight the corporates who are responsible for this dumping then they could've done sooo much. but its fair to him for not going against corporates cause that's where he gets his money but doing a big PSA and campaign asking ppl to not dump their stuff into the ocean and beaches and helping set up infrastructure for ppl who don't have an option would've done sooo much good for the people, but again, he rarely cares about these ppl its all abt his own publicity. next thing I wanna talk about is his obsession and love for ppl like elon musk and once understand this and think abt it, it all makes sense. if u made a venn diagram of his audience and elon musk fans then probably in the middle the common ground would be very big. these are ppl who are obsessed with money and seeing rich ppl act like they will solve the society's problems and we very well know how monumentally elon musk fails to do that. and Mr beast and his audience see thee world in a very black and white format, if u do any bad but if u replace that with good hence stuff will balance out and we cant criticize him somehow, just cause he plants trees and donates he isn't above criticism. like I remember a couple of years ago when his fire cracker video came, he was criticised cause they burnt down 1 million $ worth of crackers and polluted so much but again his meat riders came to rescue and defended him like he is a messaih cause he donates so what he does isn't wrong. lol rant over.

I'm a 36 year old who spent about 10 years on unemployment in Australia. Yes I am kinda ashamed of it, but mainly cause I am employed now and it's constantly keeping me away from being creative or being in some way culturally relevant. In 2021 I found out what I was good at, but now that the government eventually found me a job. I can only do it sometimes when I have the will to. But overall this is why I believe in UBI. I should be allowed to pursue what facinates and motivated me as a full time career. Instead I have to wait until after my 3 work days are over, doing manual labour. But then, I have to hope I don't get called on a day off for an emergency shift. My channel makes 10 cents a day on KZbin, wish it was enough to not need a job.

for me, it’s more that mr beast is a symptom of an unnecessary problem (bad healthcare). as you said in the video, his motives don’t really matter since he’s doing objectively good things. most of the things i saw on twitter were really critiquing how necessary people like him are instead of the government being able to provide those services. twitter will always be a bad representation of peoples beliefs, but the majority of the people i saw have similar points then i do and the people that didn’t were in the minority and ratio’d 💀

you are just sucking up to him its apparent, cause u are showing the bad examples of ppl criticizing Mr beast and debunking the entire talking point itself. u have a really America centric view abt this where u need a big rescue figure who films himself doing charity and because the outcome is ppl getting help, the entire thing is somehow justified. what I'm saying is Mr beast using charity as a cover for minting millions if not in the future billions of dollars. he doesn't truly care for the homeless, there are videos of him saying he can use homeless for views he doesn't because he is giving them money, so u can like this is just him exploiting ppl who have nothing, for his personal monetary gain. and spend 2 minutes on some critical thinking before completely riding him, if he actually wanted to give away his money and if his claims for all his charity are true then he would show the receipts dude, he would show his finantials, but instead all we get is a bunch of videos where he controls the narrative and paints a cozy overly positive picture.
@zelda142011 ай бұрын
First, let me just say, I'm on MrBeast's side as well. And as JHXC said, yeah the thumbnail for that video is weird. Oh well. Anyway, I don't want to encourage a heated argument, so if I do that, I am sorry. But I do want to state my side. If the problem is MrBeast using footage of people he's helped _in exchange_ for him helping them, I don't think that's the case. Yes, I don't know for sure, but I bet everyone he's helped is totally fine with being in his videos for a bit. If they wanted to be left off of the internet, they probably asked him, and since there were so many people he helped, he could totally honor their wishes and still have a great video. If the problem is him monetizing helping people, which I think it is, then I can kinda get that, I'll admit. It sounds weird. But the fact of the world is that money you give away has to come from somewhere. MrBeast gets money from his channels, and because of his main channel, he was able to start Beast Philanthropy. On there, every bit of revenue he earns goes straight back to that channel and helping those he can. As for his main channel, most of his income goes back into it as well. He doesn't live like a multi-millionaire, but even if he did, fair enough, I say. But I think it's awesome that he doesn't. The money he gives away on his main channel isn't usually to the people that need it most, but he's still giving those people money, which can help them pay debts, help family, or just help themselves. They also volunteered. Everyone in his challenges agreed to them before they began. And because the helping blind people see video was on his main channel, his full philanthropy channel was pointed out again to his full audience. Sorry this was so long, but I know that MrBeast, Jimmy, honestly does care about helping people. I'm not him, so I don't know his full thoughts on everything, but I DO know that he wants to help as many people as he can, and I think it's awesome that he's able to, and does, reach so far out and help so many. I hope you have a good day :)

But every penny he makes, he puts back into the mr. Beast brand, and as he has said in many instances, he only keeps enough for himself to survive and his willingness to help other countries when their governments won't is one of the biggest reasons he is so God damn respected in the online space and even among celebrities.
