I would say two. So for example the question may state 'How do both sources present the differences of the characters. Also focus on adding the other parts of the essay when comparing like Mr Bruff said with the methods, attitudes, and additionally why.

For this question, is there a specific paragraph structure to help with answering the question? Our teachers always tell us to use: Point, Quote, Explain, Language/Structure analysis which I do, but always end up getting 11/16 or so :\

I personally do a short 2 sentence introduction on both sources and then do Point, evidence (but I embed the quote into the point to make it flow), then analysis and then another point with evidence embedded along with another analysis because it flows better and you don’t always have to do super detailed because it could always be like “the adjectives “....”, “....” and “....” are all associates of a semantic field of abuse etc. I normally do two GIANT paragraphs instead of three small ones. It’s more fluent and cohesive but it depends on you at the end of the day!

It's never about how much you write, but how long you spend on each question. If you allow 10 minutes to read the sources, there are 95 minutes to gain a maximum of 80 marks. Therefore, you should spend around 1-1.5 mins per mark available, so for example with Paper 2: 5 mins on q1, 10 mins on q2, 15 mins on q3, 20 mins on q4 and 45 mins on q5. How much you can write in that time will vary from student to student, so I never say “You should write x amount of paragraphs”. I hope that helps.

1 for each bullet point would be good, i think that’s the easiest way because that way you can think more clear. Conclusions are optional and can be of any length, for a 16 marker you could do a short one? However everyone writes at a different pace, like he said, so it’s really quality over quantity. Do cover all bullet points though !

Does anyone know any way I can contact me bruff one on one? Something happened in my literature exam and I came up with this quite sophisticated interpretation of Jekyll and Hyde but I’m not sure if it would be seen as valid let alone a high level analysis. I need to discuss what I wrote with someone who knows what they’re talking about because I’m genuinely stressed out with what it wrote. I was satisfied with the quality it’s just I’m not sure the examiner will grasp the concept.

So obviously Stevenson disagreed with Victorian society and thought how it was wrong that people were so deeply judged on their social status so I said Stevenson used Hyde explicitly to confront the people in upper classes ( highlighted Hyde targeting Carew) and to show them the negative personality traits that they are in denial of so maybe they could accept and realise that nobody is perfect and how society is so corrupt. I then liked back to how Stevenson was religious and believed that god made us with both good and bad so we should not conflict that fact but instead accept it. That was basically my point. I went into a lot more detail but yeah I’m really scared if the examiner will find sense in this or just think it’s ridiculous
