In this video, I discuss my Daniel Defense DDM4 V7P, which I call my Shorty General Purpose DI Urban Defense Rifle which you is another way of saying my general purpose urban SHTF rifle.
It's my go-to rifle for chaotic city scenarios where I tested at the Haley Strategic D5 Carbine course.

@@jaygreen8662 I'm old, but I've still got my rifle skills. I might last a few days. This is New England, where most people have no small arms combat skills at all. It's still legal to own Pre-Ban AR mags. I saw some for sale last week. "The PRE-BAN (Manufactured before 9/13/94) 30 round AR-15 magazines are here now. $59.95 each". They sell out fast. I picked up a few back when they were only $20 each. My 10 rnd magpuls are really 30 rnd mags and have a plastic insert inside. Removing it would be illegal.. My CMMG .22LR conversion kit mags have a tiny little 10 rnd pin. Removing it would be illegal. So, I'm not totally unprepared for Zombies.

I can attest to the beauty of having the Magpul MBUS Pro offset sights on a rifle. I have them on a couple of my ARs. While hunting white tail deer in Central Texas with 6.5 Grendel build, three does came out of a grove about 50 yards away to my right. I had seen them the day before, so it took a moment to register when a buck followed behind them. They didn’t see me behind a fallen tree. By the time I got my rifle up, they were 30 yards away. I knew I wouldn’t have time to get my scope on him, so I tilted my AR and used my 45° offset sights. Obliterated his heart from 15 yards away. He made it about 10 yards before collapsing.

I like how lightweight the gas system is on Mk18, and quick recoil impulse. But I prefer the PWS MK111. It has a piston system that runs cooler, cleaner, better suppressed, and mlock handguard is lighter than quads, and less aggressive against your clothing when slinged. I think short barrels and short gas direct impingement systems are hard on barrels and buffer springs. The PWS seems to be a well sorted Mk18 sized weapon. And much lighter than HK416

Leupold red dots are mediocre bro, they make great scopes but the red dots leave a ton to be desired. They weigh more than other premium brands or even value brands like the primary arms and only have 75 days of battery life on low where something like an Aimpoint has 3-5 years on medium. I know you are sponsored by them but I most definitely wouldn’t run one of those for SHTF. T2 or CompM5 for a red dot and if really worried about night fighting the EOTECH EXPS is king of the hill for night vision. Other than that, great video. @Edc-Guy
@Edc-Guy Жыл бұрын
I’m definitely a two stage preferred person. However in no way is a Geissele 2 stage faster than a cmc single stage. Not bc one IS FASTER than the other but given identical lb breaks they are virtually the same function wise and only separated by preference and most importantly training. (this goes for most higher end single or two stage triggers). Not to knock the comment, if you purchased a decent single stage the follow ups may even feel faster depending on brand. My one critique is the lack of magnification. Even in cities you have long sightlines, and tactically knowledgeable people are more likely to choose to engage you at range. Additionally, people will hide behind cover, so you want magnification if someone is leaning behind a wall or over a car.
@112233JORDAN
@112233JORDAN 8 ай бұрын
You think he's going to be sitting in those long sightlines? Way more important to have a sight that you can acquire a target quickly. That gun will be good for any engagements up to 500 meters. Magnification doesn't equal fast target acquisition for most combat ranges. Of course, there will be some pros for having a DMR or sniper rifle. That is a given.
@doublepiedavid8908
@doublepiedavid8908 8 ай бұрын
@@112233JORDAN first, it’s hard to find areas in most cities, outside of being in interior rooms in buildings, where you can’t see or be seen from 100 yards, and it’s very easy to end up in a 300 yard sightline. Second, most people have a hard time engaging targets at 100 yards with no magnification, even a good shooter like Noir probably can’t consistently shoot at 500 without at least some magnification. Thirdly, because people hide behind cover due to not wanting to die, torsos aren’t the target, arms and heads are. A head sized target at 200 yards is hard to hit without magnifying it. And fourth, I wasn’t talking about a Sniper/DMR system, I just think he should have an LPVO or a magnifier behind that red dot. He will still get the fast target acquisition, he just will also have magnification to engage targets at range or behind cover more easily

No you’re not hitting 5.56 speeds but it still breaks 2,000fps and if you’re close quarters and need something short that is small and heavy hitting I always recommend. Especially because if you’re running a suppressor anyways you can slap subs in there and get super quiet and still have full ballistics even at shorter barre lengths. Of course that’s just me and yes it’s more expensive 🤷🏻 it’s way more versatile and if I’m in the city I’m not taking 100yd shots either so I don’t really need something that’s going to push out to distance so I’m not worried about bullet drop. If I’m just trying to get away and I suppressive fire it won’t matter anyways. I can’t wait to get mine on a course. Everyone has their opinion and preference which I get hence why I choose 300 blackout lol I’m just surprised sometimes when people start thinking close quarters they don’t look for something outside of 5.56/.223

I'll be honest my preference is 5.56 simply because it's super common and widespread, it's cheap, and with those in mind I did basically purpose builds around that ideology. I have 2 I run now a 12.3 and a 16, one for cqb and one for mid to long range (I live in a rural ish/small city area) I'd really like to build a 308 br buttttt I'm poor

Id love a suppressed 300blk as well cause of the versatility and exact points you mentioned, but price definitely played a large roll in my 2 initial builds. Down the road I plan on building out some super nice high quality builds and one will definitely be a 300blk around like 10 or 11", but for the purpose of building 2 purpose built rifles for the looming collapse of society in the budget I had to work within I leaned heavily to 5.56

V7P MFR rail gets too hot, especially suppressed. Went the stupid more expensive MK18 route with the RIIS 2 rail on a V7P. So a mock 18 I guess.

Mk18 for the end of days? Lol, good luck. You're backing yourself into a corner wherein your rifle is almost exclusively built to fight CQC...the most dangerous possible way to get into a gunfight. Even with SBR specific loads like the Barnes 50g, or heavier 77g SMKs, the intended ballistic performance dies off at under 200m. Food for thought.

I was shooting with a man at the range the other day I had just met. He told me my eotech was only good for 50 yards and closer. I was hitting sub 2 inch groups at 100 yards and ringing steel at 200-400. He was shooting out of an lpvo and couldn’t hold a 3-4 inch group at 100. He almost couldn’t believe his eyes while I was shooting and he was spotting. Eotech/red dots are good optics out to longer distances than people give credit for. Very precise too

When I watch these videos and read the comments I realise how far past the point of no return you all are. I don't understand 75% of what you all say and I am very happy about that. Keep fighting for your rights under 2A until every civilian adult in the US is openly carrying an AR15. Then we'll see if gun deaths go up or down. You already lead the developed world in gun deaths. No point in stopping now is there? SMH

You know I'm so glad all these you tubers have all this money to dump into their weapons, so why not do a video on a middle class person's build because not everyone have $5000 to dump into lasers, infrared lights, suppressors, and $400 to $1000 optics, Colion you keep doing what you do I'll back you anytime with my $300 budget build that goes bang every time I pull the trigger and puts rounds on target every time at ranges out to 400 meters.

Brutally honest unless your keeping your SHTF rifle with its electronics in a faraday bag at all times, i'd highly suggest focusing on it not using electronics. Learning to shoot out to 300m-400m with iron sights reliably day or night will save your life. If every military recruit can learn how to do it with a crap colt m4 you can as well with a rifle that costs twice as much. I'd also suggest a brown or medium gray for a SHTF weapon as it blends in way better then black, green, or fde.

My son who is a significant upgrade over his old man in virtually every quantitative and qualitative category of human being is an advanced operator in the Navy and you could huck any gun at him and he'd pretty much have a significant advantage over 99.9% of any of us. He literally doesn't care about what he shoots or the gadgets on it as long as it goes bang when he presses the trigger. Love Colion, he does a great job demonstrating a full build out with the luxury attachments as well as anyone I've ever seen. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't understand these are money no issue episodes but they are definitely fun to watch.

I don’t know, if I look back at events of the past 20 years, my thinking is that if you have the money for it, getting the other force modifiers is a good call. There’s a reason professionals use them. I have yet to see the “no batteries or electronics work anymore” manifest itself. On the other hand, I’ve seen plenty of cases across America where one would need this rifle. I’m not saying the big EMP can’t happen. I’m saying the odds you need a rifle are much higher than the odds the EMP happens. And even if you’re great with irons, you can’t shoot what you can’t see. In my mind, a rifle is not ready for general defensive use until it at least has a white light option onboard.

I've been listening to a lot of discussions on general pupose rifles for use outside the home. I'm now in the camp that any such rifle should have magnification on it. RDS w/ magnifier, ACOG w/ piggyback RDS, LPVO, etc. There seems to be a misconception that "urban" = CQC, at least there was for me at one point.

I have been wanting to buy a war comp for a while but have read that its not as good of a suppressor host do to the comp? Is this really true or that big of a deal? I see a lot of people running the war comp and suppressor together like in this video and it seems fine. Really I just want a good muzzle device that may end up getting suppressed latter. TBD. Any thoughts?
