my dad plays this song all the time, when he lived in Mexico City as a kid, he'd rock out with his friends, singing (or attempting to) in English. Papá, I love you!

Back when i was a kid, i was very sensitive and would cry over the smallest things, and being a kid i would ofcourse tell my mom about it and instead of her comforting me she would yell at me and say how i'm "overreacting". I have never forgot the feeling of my stomach just like hurt? I dont know how to describe it. Now that I've grown up i realized that was probably the cause of my teenage self bottling up my own emotions and being the "quiet" kid. Thanks mom :)

I’ve always liked this song and other girls would bully me for listening to it since I’m not a boy and for listening to “old songs” so I listened to them secretly but now idgaf, and my dad would always tell my brother to not cry or show any emotion bc “boys don’t cry” so I would just listen this song with him, so yeah, have a great day strangers :)

I really laugh when people call out people like ourselves for listening to "old songs" when these songs are like the standard for what good music is and should be, instead of the rap crap and EDM trash that is popular nowadays. And that's coming from an 18 year old.

I've always loved this the best of all the Cure's songs, but it was stellar the way it was used in the soundtrack of Kimberly Peirce's film "Boys Don't Cry" in 1999, when Lana springs Brandon from jail on a traffic violation & they are running down the stairs.

An iconic group so fresh and Innovative with ridiculously catchy Riffs and irresistible melodies- definitely one of my favourite Bands (alongside Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Level 42, Depeche Mode, Naughty By Nature, Incognito, Young Disciples and D-Influence). One of my friends at School collected every Cure album- she loved them. She died really young (aged 18) and listening to this song made me think about her. I cried tears of sadness but also Beautiful memories ...❤🕊))

I would say I'm sorry If I thought that it would change your mind But I know that this time I have said too much Been too unkind I tried to laugh about it Cover it all up with lies I tried to laugh about it Hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry Boys don't cry I would break down at your feet And beg forgiveness, plead with you But I know that it's too late And now there's nothing I can do So I try to laugh about it Cover it all up with lies I try to laugh about it Hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry Boys don't cry I would tell you that I loved you If I thought that you would stay But I know that it's no use And you've already gone away Misjudged your limits Pushed you too far Took you for granted Thought that you needed me more, more, more Now I would do most anything To get you back by my side But I just keep on laughing Hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry Boys don't cry

I wish that one day masculine shaming for crying would stop.Too many boys grew up to be men that repress their emotions and the release of them. Boys you cry and let it out in front of the right girl and she won't shame you,She'll probably cry with you.

That is what it means to be a man... the real shame is that boys are growing up without a father, being raised by women (me too, my dad was a 6ft. 7in. alcoholic.... but at least he taught me not to cry)

I'm a trans man. When I came out to both my parents their behaviors of it's ok to show fear, cry changed. I was raised with feminine gender roles, still had rights to dress as I pleased in middle and highschool. When I came out then came the mocking if I was scared, or if I showed any sense of tears. I'm happy my generation can move away from toxic masculinity, but the fact that society hasn't fully gotten around it hurts.

I read a Tumblr post where someone suggested that Will gets Vecna'd , and that Mike and the others play Should I Stay Or Should I Go in an attempt to save him , but because 1. this is Will's favorite song now , and 2. Will associates that song with trauma from his parents and the Mind Flayer , it has the opposite effect that Running Up That Hill had on Max , and instead further isolates him in Vecna's world , reliving his trauma and believing/realizing that his friends really don't know/care about him.. I have not been ok since then

I'm listening this song now and I hear a break up, one that you could not stop even if you try. You can try to lower the profile, maybe it was to little time or you didn't have that much chemistry, but you felt it, deep. The world it's gonna tell you it wasn't that big of a deal, you shouldn't be so sad, you shouldn't cry. But it was sad. But boys don't cry...

I was listening to Jimmy Hendrix's live version of Like a Rolling Stone which in part has music noticeably the same as this hit which got me here. See if you can pick it. I always thought Dylan wrote Like a R... but to my surprise , according to an upload on YT it goes back in part to Bunny Wailer from Bob Marley and the Wailers.
