Great hacks! I use an empty Lysol disinfectant sheet container to get my vinyl off my weeding tool. Same principle. I just toss it when its full. I also use 143 vinyl. Their vinyl is SO much better then Cricut and cheaper! And, for your "star" trial cuts...don't use your Transfer tape for something that small. I use scotch tape for the small items. It works great! To clean my blade after I cut, but before I put my machine away, I use a pre-packaged alcohol swab on the blade to get off residue. It drys quickly. The wipes are also great to remove residue on smaller items, like ornaments, before I adhere my vinyl. No bottles to worry about knocking over.

I hang my cutting mats on a nail on the wall next to my machine and when I remove my protective covers I put them back on the nail and when I wanna put them back on I put my mat back on the nail Sticky side facing the protective cover and it goes on perfect every time

The hack I use the most would have to be the parchment paper hack! I just love how easy that makes it to line everything up. I would say my favorite hack is the pen hack. I've never used any pens other than cricut brand. I can't wait to try that one!

I like the pen hack. I use the Paper Mate Ink Joy pens all of the time at work. I'm a nurse, so needless to say, I do a lot of writing. Ink Joy is my favorite pen. I have to watch that people don't "forget" to give my pen back to me when they power it. Now I have a new reason to use the Ink Joy pens but this time they will be color. Thank you!

I think the font finder is my favorite one in this bunch. What a super web tool!!! Also, your reverse weeding is also very helpful. Hi Michael, My favorite is the parchment paper. I learned that from you quite some time ago and pas that hint to others. When doing a large project like tubs for drinks I did in the summer. I use the hinge method using it doing half at a time was so much easier. When applying because of the texture I used a tennis ball to appt the vinyl to get in all the nooks and crannies instead of the squeegee. I want to know the brand of pen you are using. You said you would tell the brand but I looked all over and can’t find it. Thank you for all you do!

Michael? I LOVE hacks of all kinds. I have to tell you though, the one hack that has totally geeked me out and made happier than words can tell? The one with putting the cover back on the mat! OH MY LORD!!! It is the BEST hack ever, EVER!! I know there are great hacks but this one just saved my sanity. Regarding sharpening your blade. Look for one of those soldering iron tip cleaning pots. It's like wire wool but much thicker. Perfect for this.

Sorry to tell u your wrong Mr.CraftyPants, but yes u can sharpen your blade by using the foil! I've done for years! Only thing I'd say is that the technic you were doing maynot be the proper way to sharpen your blade. Might I suggest folding your foil into a couple layers then taking your blade an cut slices into foil several times! Try it. I promise u you'll see a huge difference! Thanks for the tips. So, what do I do I my explorer says it’s cutting light card stock but I have the dial turned to vynal ? The computer (mac) doesn’t give me an option to change it and it’s cutting through the back of my vynal. Also, can I use smart vynal with my regular explorer?

Nice Tube. I got a Joy for Christmas and haven't even opened it yet. I have a Silhouette Curio that I got 4 years ago and it's still sitting in box--took it out once and put it back and it sits in it's own little shelf all by it's lonesome. Hope the Joy gets me more into the mood to use Cricut--I know it doesn't do many of the things that your Tube was about, but it will be enough for doing shirts and signs, etc. and I should be good with that. Hi I am having a problem with cutting vinyl. I have a brand new Cricut Maker and using the fine blade and heavy pressure on premium vinyl and vinyl foil. Neither cut thru to separate. I had to cut the foil along lines with scissors!

Im hoping for my info on loading mats with card stock or even designed paper with out the mat buckling and destroying my project. Seems like its really easy for the mat to get misaligned and tthe contact loosing grip of my paper and or leaving a residue of paper if the mat strength is too sticky. I read the mats last about 15 uses and i make a lot of a certain item at one time. Maybe a bigger package of mats or better quality? I've also seen change of pressure on cuts to reduce damage to the mat....? But with my edges creasing and folding up it arcs the paper and the blade unit hits the paper and ruins it....

Besides using the foil to clean your blade of extraneous materials and glue, I also will routinely remove the blade completely and use "canned air" to blow out the inside of the holder to remove stray fibers. I then take an alcohol swab and wipe down the blade to remove any glue or such that might be there. Seems to work well. I have yet to have a need to replace my blade in almost 2 years.

Wordmark doesn't display fonts with .otf extension. Don't know about other formats, but it seems just the .ttf formatted fonts are displayed. Luckily there are free file converters out there.
