About a couple years ago I was an Olympic class gymnast. I was in the process of training for a small competition, nothing fancy but a competition nonetheless. Now no matter what I'm gonna be competing in I always seek to improve myself as much as possible, because it'll help me on the more important competitions. I new I was lacking when it came to somersaults so I decided to focus on that. Mostly maintaining them over a long distance. I lived near a forest so i decided to go out there at night right? I figure if I can learn to react to the placement and locations of obstacles in near darkness as I'm flipping I'll be a shoe in to win, so I begin my training regimen. Every day for three months I flip through a one mile stretch of wilderness and back again I had been doing this for a couple of months and have gotten it down when one night I'm flippin out (as ya do) when I hear some shouting in the distance now I've sometimes heard people out here this late at night (surprisingly) and didn't react to it and kept flipping. Then right next to me I heard a gunshot this scared me so badly that I immediately started flipping away, It had become so ingrained in me that my first reaction to flip out of there. Needless to say I won the competition and after that I never flipped in the forest again.

This is probably my favorite series so far, I’m apart of a USAF AUX SAR team, I’m in the woods a lot and crazy shit happens. So if I’m going to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of this shit has some truth behind it.
@MisanthropicMarxist7 жыл бұрын
The stuff about the stairs has a completely mundane explanation. The stairs and chimneys of houses are generally the sturdiest parts of the building, and with a lot of the old foresting, mining, and hunting buildings from the 19th century, that's all that's left of them. So you might be walking out in the woods and find stairs or a chimney in what appears to be the middle of nowhere, but it's actually where a house or other building used to be, but everything else rotted away. You would be discouraged from going up the stairs because there's no telling how rotten the wood might be, and it's completely unsafe to climb them.
@ambersdarkfox7 жыл бұрын
I grew up in a pretty heavily wooded area but I never really ran into any crazy things myself. The most off the wall was coming across a couple doing some not so public things.I don't have the amount of time in the woods like someone like you has though. Being someone who was a part of a fire and rescue department I already know something you can't talk about due to privacy and legal concerns but I am curious enough to ask is if there is any of the crazy shit you can talk about to kinda give an example. I just got the feeling you probably have a few good stories to tell even if you can't talk about all of it.
@oren13057 жыл бұрын
+DefinitelyNotYakra Exactly, though in these fictional tales, the stairs are often quite new, and actually have bizarre and disturbing side-effects. Still, it's always interesting to discover old buildings or parts thereof in the woods. Providing one is minding their step...

I think I have a good theory to the creatures and stairs:They're shapeshifting aliens trying to copy humans, and create stairs to try to make homes. We terraform forests for home space, but the aliens don't know how to do it properly, so they just create stairs in available spaces, thinking it's all you need to have a home. The reason the stairs are so dangerous is because the aliens think stairs are inherently meant to be bad(falling down them is the idea), so they add something bad to them. The reason they do these things and hurt humans is because they try to copy things humans do(murder to simulate anger, kidnapping kids to simulate having a family, etc). They're good at shapeshifting and reality bending, but they can not comprehend humans. Our thinking is too complex.
@irvingtalavera33897 жыл бұрын
I have a theory. Remember the story you told when a ranger was on top of the stairs he tried touching the closet tree branch, on contact his hand was perfectly cut off. What if the hand that was in the tree is the hand of the ranger who was on top of those steps.

So what we have here apparently, is something that uses the stairs to create "wormholes" not only through space, but through time as well (judging from the Confederate soldier); has a shape-like that of a man, but with no face, yet has a "mouth" of blackness at its throat, and can mimic the sounds of people crying. It apparently doesn't breathe, but is intelligent enough to mimic breathing, can move faster than the human eye can follow, takes people of all ages, but apparently especially children, apparently holds them in suspended animation somehow for long periods of time (except for feeding them), before returning some of them to the park (some alive, some not), miles from where it originally took them, only for them to usually die of exposure or falls. As if they somehow just materialize in random spots; like about a half of a mile above the ground (or in a tree?). And apparently there's more than one creature, since the "fuzzy man" was apparently under orders to keep only a certain "kind" of captive. What is this picture that's being painted for us?
@mikkaelmansbridge51546 жыл бұрын
Cheshire Kat Well it might not be under orders, might just be looking for specific children or people, the kid wasn't afraid so maybe that's why? Either way, at this point, diving into Crowley or ancient occult shit might be a viable option. The stairs don't seem consistent though, but definitely a trigger, always doing something, and it's never good.

K, I've already established by theory that the stairs were put there by a benevolent force to aid those in trouble in the park, and that by misusing them (by not using them when there's a legitimate need) bad things happen to the user. Now to address the new development of these inverted stairs: For every ten or so staircases that are misused, one staircase turns over, symbolizing a triumph of the evil entities in the park, i.e. one less protection. Now if someone runs into these stairs while fleeing a threat, if they touch them, they are instantly killed, delivered into the hands of their pursuer, etc.
