My insurance hates fairings. It’s especially apparant in used bikes because the premiums are still stupid on bikes that are 10+ years old. I guess their logic is something like: fairings = sportsbike = bad. I’ve recently been looking at a 2015 KTM Super Duke 1290. At almost 34 years of age I can insure that for about 75% of what I would have to pay for a Yamaha R6 of similar vintage. Even a VFR 800 is more expensive to insure than the KTM. Absolute madness.

I see the comments about the lack of a rear seat while having pillion pegs. Theres a key tumbler on the left side of the rear subframe that takes your ignition/tank key. A simple twist and it unlocks the rear cowl, and the RS when purchased comes with both the rear seat and cowl and you can swap between them in your garage with about two seconds of effort. A simple push at the front edge of the cowl or seat and it clicks back into the locked position.

After riding your typical genre of bikes this would of course be surprised with this gem. These types of bikes feel much more precise and agile. When I return to “retro” bikes I feel that they are slow to react. I had a m2018 Honda CB1000R “neo-retro.” It was quick and buzzy. That is an inline 4. The buzziness was drove me nuts and it needed a seventh gear! I find this type better in tight city traffic as the response is accurate and immediate. My new Guzzi feels slow to respond (because of what it is). This sometimes gets me into trouble. It takes more skill to overcome the bucking and lag in response while navigating traffic in the inner city. This model of Triumph is well-liked. It does look quite aggressive!

Im just over 6ft 2 and find mine really comfy. I've also got a cosmic yellow model and covered 2k miles last year and 2 track days. I really love it and agree with what you say. It's a little firm for the back roads, but you can back the suspension off to the comfort setting if you prefer to do so. I've done exactly what you had suggested, I fitted spark headers and an akrapovic end can on mine and it sings! I fitted a rapidbike evo tuning module too and had it custom tuned by those nice folks at Torque Tune Dyno and what a difference! It's quite the lively animal now (wasn't exactly bad before!).. But now at 130bhp at the rear wheel, its got that extra added attitude. I think it's Triumphs comfy version of a GSXR 750 (I've had several of those over the years). Find the bike pretty versatile and would cover commuting and touring too if you wanted to, although it's wasted on a commute. You'd certainly arrive with a smile on your face though, which is what this bike is all about, so much fun to ride and appeals / caters to a wide audience of riders and their skill sets. 👍😎

I had a 675 version and it’s a total hooligan bike, tons of fun but a bit of license loser if you get carried away, which is easy to do. UK insurance makes no sense at all! I’m a Brit but live in Austria and they grade bikes by BHP not cc’s, which makes total sense. Number plates are issued by the insurance company and I can use my plate for up to three bikes, simply swap it over. Insurance can be ‘paused’ over the winter season, hand plate back in and pick it up again when the snow and ice have gone! Cost is based on the most powerful bike in your stable… makes much more sense! Good down to earth review, thanks!

I own a Street Triple 660 S and I'm planning to buy one come 2025 when my license allows it (I'm 27 but still under Australia LAMS) I'm thinking the R not the RS but there are additional things on the RS which make it well worth it. Things like the TRT Dash, Bar Ends, Belly Pan and Ohlins rear shock very well makes up for the change in pricing. However I have a few parts on my ST 66S which I'd carry over to an R when the time comes. I'd have to figure out what can be done for the exhaust and what's available as the mounting is different for the newer models.

I’m 5’8” and fit the bike well. I’m on the balls of my feet at a standstill. (30” inseam). I know you were complaining about the stiff ride, however it does have adjustable settings to make the back road rides easier to live with on its softer settings. It’s a bit unfair to compare this bike to a cruiser, since they have different goals. One can also complain that low seat riding cruisers will damage your spine on a bumpy back road. I personally love the howling intake and triple cylinder sound. The performance is also great considering the price point. If the bike has shortcomings, it’s the typical complaints of any “naked” bike… no wind protection and worse in rainy weather…. But that also means it’s solid fun when the weather is nice. 🌞😎👍

I bought the slightly faster and prettier Carnival Red version last Fall.😊 It comes with the rear seat and the rear cowl. To each his own, but I think the exhaust looks fantastic. Much better than a chunky aftermarket one. At 5'8" I flatfoot easily. I swapped tires out this Spring as our New England roads and weather aren't a great match for the track tires it comes with. I also use the comfort sertings on the suspension, plus went one turn out of the rear Ohlins(oddly labeled non-adjustble in manual). It rides FANTASTIC. Plenty of low-down grunt and really screams from about 8K on. Approaching mile 5,000 of sheer joy on the road.

I've had my RS since the end of March (also in cosmic yellow), it's my third consecutive RS and by far the best, in both performance and handling, I know it's subjective but I couldn't disagree more with you re the exhaust and for anyone wanting to change the exhaust a slip on end can isn't an option it's a complete change from the headers back or nothing, I love the bike but have one small gripe, I don't like the TFT, Triumph's TFTs on the street triple started with the 2017 765 which was good the 2020 model not so good and the 2023 by far the worst with a much too cluttered look and the font too small but it's a minor gripe on a great bike.

Oddly enough the first thing I thought as I saw this bike was a Wasp! Especially around the headlights! Nice but like yourself not my cup of tea! I also didn’t like the sound it made typically electronic in my opinion but if your into going like the clappers then why not give it a go! Good video & review 👍🏻

Great review! I've been thinking about trading in my Ducati on one.

I implore you to test ride one first. The grass isn’t always greener..

Would handle a lot better if you put some pre-load on the rear. You’re a bit heavy for it.

It handled perfectly fine for the amount of riding i was doing on it

I'm sure it's great if you can have several bikes, but not very practical as your only bike. The super bike / sports bike era has probably had it's day for the aging British motorcyclist. I had a CBR 600, 20 plus years ago and it was great fun. These sort of bikes are too fast for our rubbish roads but would be great fun on a track day. I'm sure it will be successful for Triumph but not as successful as their modern retro's as I think it is a smaller market, hence most of the big manufactures have moved away from this type of motorcycle although it does seem to be making a small comeback especially in the small capacity area 400-700 cc, I guess that's for the folks that can afford several motorcycles and fancy a lightweight sports bike. Not for me but great to see you looking at different Motorcycle sectors.

I ride my street triple 765r every day, it's brilliant as an all round bike

I currently own a Trident 660, but I did recently ride one of these at a Triumph demo event. The Street Triple is amazing too ride. Too bad it's really, really ugly in the front. Put a round headlight (or twin round headlights) on the front and I might go for it, but at this point, I'll stick to my Trident.

Fair enough, I’ve got the trident in the garage ready to test!

I love this bike in Cosmic Yellow, but I agree that it's ugly in any other color. I would love to ride a giant hornet. Honda's Hornet is a massive disappointment by comparison

@@MrDarcy-OlMan I think you will really like it. A bit more conservative styling, but with that really nice triple power delivery, smooth transmission, and excellent handling.

Don’t apologise for not getting your knee down. There are too many of them who become an accident statistic.
