Got the US version and went 4579 miles in 9 days, that’s from Alabama to California and back. Amazing mpg average about 46 and average about 75 mph. I’m 5’9” 206lbs and rode on average 505 per day. No problem with seat, vibrations or wind. Have owned 3 gold wings and two other Harleys as well as sport bikes, this CVO rocks. Period.

Had this bike 2019 for nearly a year.. Can't stop riding it 14k miles so far.. Northumberland, North Yorks, County Durham.. Brilliant on the B Roads.. Trips to London and back, easy peasy.. The best thing about it is the soundtrack.., blaring spotify playlists off my mobile.. Some people scowl but many dance along at the lights.. Vance and heines pipes with the original dark crome covers make it stealty with a fantastic meaty note.

Never park your bike in neutral. And it will never roll off the kickstand. Now, on to the review. You two offer a great blend of older and younger perspective which is unique. Also the combination of parked and riding sequences is a great way to see the bike at it's best. And your choice of locations is absolutely beautiful. Only critique I can offer is the view while riding is too low. As always, I thank you for all your efforts. They are worth it !

I love the rain in the video, and how you deal with it. The Harley is great, a real super-tourer, personally I seek other traits in a motorcycle, but can agree on touring quality and appreciate the luxury, with the exclusive black chrome and all. Years ago (here he goes again...) I got stuck in a far away stretch of desert road because of one little switch - the clutch lever sensor. Like the expert I am not, I swiftly (about four hours of sweaty, hungry and loud despair) found the problem and cleared the doohickey of grime and sand, and was on my way. The experience put a real phobia in me, I got all the little switches, like the side-stand one, cancelled and removed. If I will go riding with the side stand extended, I should not go riding at all. The point is, I would need to make a real effort to trust a fancy Harley with all the extra equipment and menus and switches. I work with computers, no stranger to complicated electronics and programs, but I prefer as little electronic clutter between me and the road as possible.

Yes we would be inclined to agree with that. We had a couple of Range Rovers that were breaking down frequently to one sensor or another

Hi guys. you re right about the kickstand of this machines. How i did it was after stopping the engine and leave the machine in gear, let it settle until the wheel locks and only then lean it on the stand. This way the bike could not move any further and the stand stayed planted. Hope this helps.

Not a huge difference between the CVO and the ultra limited. 3 more cubes, a hot seat, and a few electrical doo dads, but I'm picking the ride is very much the same. Thanks for an excellent Review. (as always) For me, Harley-Davidson Limited is one of the most attractive bikes on the market and the CVO version! WOW! - Who would have said no? - Still, this is big money. I would have preferred a Harley-Davidson Street Glide and maybe a CVO version of the Street Glide if I could afford it, The alternative would be the Indians Chieftain and if we are in the CVO universe, one will think Chieftain Elite. Which brings me to this: Harley-Davidson CVO Limited. To me, the most obvious comparison will be the Indian Roadmaster Elite - And then, perhaps the new top of the line BMW R 18 Transcontinental, with all available equipment packages.

I use to work in sales at a Harley dealer in California a few years ago before this new model came out. I'd have to push these +800lb $40k bikes on a slick dealer floor, and the one bike I certainly didn't want to drop was the CVO. I rode a Buell at the time and am more into smaller bikes, even toured on the Buell. But I must say these new CVO's are really nice if ones into touring bikes. Top quality! Harley cvo road glide limited and street glide limited are the best touring bikes you can buy. I have also owned a gen 3 goldwing which is almost as good but they don’t look as good and I prefer Harley’s sat nav and audio system. I like how you can easily update the sat nav and software with a usb stick too and Harley fully support this - no reliance on dealers. Some of this is obviously subjective but I don’t know why anyone would prefer plastics over quality painted metals.

Agreed on the new Gen 6 Gold Wing touring for a more modernized long distance motorcycle. With it’s reverse mode, DCT or Manual options, shaft driven, loads of tech, LED lighting and it’s legendary liquid cooled inline 6 engine, a center stand in addition to a side stand. I think Harley Davidson Touring bikes are absolutely the best looking touring bikes on the planet. Their ride is unique to Harley. If you embrace old school ethos, a wonderful Harley culture/ family and quality paint you ride Harley Davidson’s. Great review gents. Always solid perspective. Have you reviewed the Indian Challenger Dark Horse for comparison? Ride safe and ride often. Peace.

Great review! I've had two these beasts and once they get in your blood you're hooked. The sidestand if put down properly will let the bike move forward about an inch as it locks into place and then it cannot physically fold up. I've had my Honda's, my Triumphs and one Yamha roll forward off the stand but never a Harley. But and it's a big big but, you can start a Harley with the stand down and the bike in gear so you have to be very aware of that. Keep up the great videos.

Bought this new model in 2017 ! 34k Launch engine then was 114cu with oil cooled heads and all the goodies allowing HD to claim that it was the best that they had ever produced. Traded in my 2008 CVO as it didn’t have linked brakes . One year later , the bike was already out of date as HD decided that the engine wasn’t big enough… 117cu was it’s replacement …gutted ! A small issue of condensation started to appear ( garaged ) in all the analogue clocks . Local dealer replaced them immediately. Condensation returned and this time in the boom box screen . Again all the clocks were replaced , this time with silica gel bags inserted in them .really … once the silica is damp , it holds the moisture and the dampness was there all season . Again , replace the clocks with new ones. 4 months before the end of the warranty , the condensation was back . This time HD and the dealer refused to help . Their answer - we are aware of the issue and at present , have no remedy . Once we do , we will notify you to bring your bike in to repair it . That was 3 years ago . I asked them to buy it back and they offered me 15k for my 2 year old 5k miles bike . I kept it and persevere with the damp until it clears . The first hour of any journey is not good . I can’t see the speed or the sat nav . My previous HDs were amazing and very unfortunately this experience killed any trust with this company. A lot of money for many trips to the dealer with broken promises. Just saying

I would never spend money on a expensive bike sound system to listen quality music always in inadequate environements or to show off passerby. Rode an Ultra last weekend actually with my fiance. Such a heartache🥺 Maybe I need to go to the gym more often to be able to keep such a heavy bike upright as I got a nasty cramp in my hip. Then nearly dropped it as I pulled it out of the parking lot trying to slip the clutch and turn at the same time (didn’t have the same issue with the Pan America). Then struggled to find neutral at the traffic. Then the real deal breaker for me was when we got on the highway. The amount of buffeting from the windscreen was horrendous. Up to 110 km/h, everything is fine. But afterwards, my word… My fiance even complained of a headache after just a 10 minute ride. You can tell this bike was made for the US market. Now I’ll need to find another gift to myself when my 40th birthday arrives😢

Thats a shame. It’s definitely for the open roads. I found sticking my legs out really wide helped with the manoeuvres.
@wrczane3 жыл бұрын
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I don’t know if we missed a trick with that buffeting. It’s maybe the difference between the CVO and lesser model if you can put it that way. How did you experience the (if any) buffeting? I guess one will get use to a big bike like that over time and with practice. A shorter first gear I think would have also been nice. Beautiful bike nonetheless.

Bummer on the hip cramp. BTW, you didn't drop it. KUDOS! What are you looking at? This is a big heavy machine which improves the experience in windy situations. I do believe the shark nose is better that way than batwings, but personal pref.

@@chrislaughter9190 By the grace of God I didn’t drop it🙏 Looking for a comfortable long distance tourer. I’ve ridden the Heritage classic before and liked it alot, but I don’t know about my wife. From looks alone and pillion space she’s not fond the HC. I’ve thought about the road glide, but haven’t ridden it yet. I’ve also wondered if it would be better at buffeting than the Ultra. Windshield looks a little more “streamlined”.

The Harley side stands almost always make you 'clench' if you employ them on any kind of forward facing slope. When I flick mine out I always put my foot on it and push forward to be sure it's fully extended before letting the bike lean down. I also always leave it in first gear. I really feel the amount of play in the deployed side stand is too much. Harley should re-engineer these to tighter tolerances IMO.

Once you are used to the jiffy stand, you never have a miss. I love the jiffy stand on my two HDs. I can appreciate all the upgrades on a CVO, but the cost is sooo much. Great machine, HD has worked out the bugs for the M8, although there should never have been and bugs. I would purchase one if I hit the lottery, but otherwise just too much $$$. Thanks for posting, great review.

I did USA coast to coast (FL to CA) in 2019 on a Ultra Limited (the "cheaper", non flashy version of this) and I loved every mile with it. I would not choose any other bike for a trip like this. So comfy and so much luggage capacity. And cool looking. Sorry, but for me Goldwings are so sterile, boring and without a soul.

You asked if there was a contender. Yes there is , the BMW K 1600 or BMW Grand America with its 6 cylinders is a much smoother plush ride w/ way more power & performance and not as heavy. I’ve ridden both bikes and it’s night & day. One huge difference is that BMW’s don’t produce excessive heat. Nevertheless , I still like Harley’s.
@MrDarcy-OlMan3 жыл бұрын
OK good alternative 👍🏼
@chrislaughter91903 жыл бұрын
Likely so. At least it is the only possible contender. BMW shops are not as readily available in the us. You can't just pull in and have in route service express, it has a very different engineering platform from the ground up, so not really comparable. Good machine, no question. No BMW community like Harley either.

@@MrDarcy-OlMan They are awesome for ride comfort, as long as you are less then 5'8" cuz your knees will be hitting the fairing and that kills the whole experience. Also, the storage is far less, I can put 2 full-faced helmets in the back on the CVO, not so with honda.

That's an awesome bike and a great review, as always. Not something that's going to my kind of ride for a good while, but I enjoy these just the same. I'd be interested in what you'd choose for a first big bike (Mod 2 in the morning). I'm 6' and don't like my knees to be too cramped. Not wanting a cruiser style, but something more like a naked. Perhaps with a retro edge. Doesn't have to crazy fast, but a decent but of poke for sure. I liked your CB650R review, but wasn't sure if I'd find it a bit small. Would welcome any thoughts. P.S. Might want to check your fly (see the last section of the video ;)
