The first place appears to be full of the tailings or micro stuff they crushed and then was leached back into the river with the mercury. It's an interesting place in general and there will be more spots around there I am sure worth further visits Dave. I have heard that the other rivers are still frequented too and that things are a bit like as before

Cracking Video mate, I got into Geology as a hobby around 2 years ago out of curiosity about UK Gold, i have to say I'm completely Hooked ha ha. I'm in the Lake District Windermere, and have been looking into the surrounding area's, but have narrowed to a specific place, done some deep research too, and found some incredible information, which confirmed the geology which seemed to scream Gold, after going back time and time I found more and more float, highly mineralised with iron pyrites and sulphites in a process of decomposing, the host rock Is slate Schist, intrusions of limonite, and gneiss but I haven't found the source vein for that quartz float, but I'm off again tomorrow determined to find it as i'll have all day. Looking into the River Bank material I found a lot of the same high mineralised quartz falling out the bank didn't even notice what i was stood on, but a huge black sand bank, literally it's like a small beach of seemingly all black sand, not tested any as i don't have a Pan as yet. I've taken a load of quartz home each time so I could break it open and get a better look and it's amazing material in my (amateur) opinion, but the last time I was there i found a golf ball size piece of nice Quartz in one of the mountain streams with a small crack filled with Gold, and it's definitely not Iron Pyrite. I've watched you're video's from when you tried the Lake district on a few occasions a while ago, without much luck, not sure where you were but i have vague idea. Reason I'm telling you is if you are up this way or thinking about having another bash sometime, gimme a shout, gonna get a Panning kit ordered on Monday, I'll share this location with you and i can learn some of your accumulated knowledge in panning techniques using a sluice etc. Like i say i'm gonna try and find the source of that vein tomorrow, but I have a feeling it crosses the river or there's another and i'' grab some of the black sand and the bankside material on the same bend, so I can try it out on Tuesday when the pan arrives, I'll let you know the result. Anyway let me know if you're interested Mate, i'll send you my Email.

Hello TBB and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and acquired knowledge of your journey so far into this great hobby, it's truly gripping stuff ! There are a many more places I would like to prospect in the Lake District myself. Over the years I have walked up up literally every mountain there is in the area and looking back I now find myself having more questions than there are answers about many places I have visited. I find myself asking the question " Could there be any gold there ?".... An old friend of mine has told me stories about the silver mining in the Glenriding area where they used Cyanide to extract the silver form the ore for example and that there should be gold in this region too ( probably not commercially viable ) but as an enthusiast it's juicy stuff. People have also said that they have metal detected some of the old waste and spoil heaps around the mines in the area and found traces of gold, as the miners were not mining for it . It's all interesting stuff and there doesn't seem to be enough readily available information about gold occurrences in the Lake District like there is in other parts of the UK . Let me know how you get on tomorrow and if you need any advice on panning , sluicing etc, I would be happy to help, Regards Darren.

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Cheers Mate, well the knowledge you speak of is the right stuff, coming from the Old Shepherding farming Families that go back hundreds of years, what I was told by a farmer a few weeks ago was incredible really, about the Magna Carta, the Royal Gold Mines and the varying methods of keeping 2, maybe 3 concealed, 1 to be used and be the mine which all will see as the only Royal Gold mine in Britain which is in Wales as you know, all crown jewels and wedding jewellery, and gifts to other Royal Families or royal Favourites as they were called back in the day would use only the welsh gold , and it's 30% more expensive than the Gold Price at any time. I was told by a good mate who lives and works round here that Diana's ring had to be made from High Grade gold taken from the Royal mine of Kentmere, now i have no idea if there's any truth in that as he told me that about 8 year ago before I got into Geology etc, but the Farmer said that the Gold Mine for the Royals in 1600's to 1700's was exactly where I have been finding what I've been finding, but it was closed as in the entrance to the mine was blown to close it, and now it's a craggy outcrop with a sheepfold in front if it, but there are Journals in his House dating back to 1850's and his relatives used to use the river and the terraced like bit to the mountain near the foot of it, and found nuggets, as big as walnuts in their shells, and panning was productive even though they just had some fun finding it now and again. I believe him as he has no reasdon to make up such a story, but i'll check out everything tomorrow and ill let ya know. Oh and if you ever get the opportunity, have a look into the creation of the Grasberg Gold Mine, and on Google Earth, use thwe time feature to go right back to the 80's, and what it develop, it's incredible but it shares self similar fractality to very specific parts to Britain, which is what was figured out in the 1700's repetition in geological and topographical landscaping, identical in almost every way except for scale, reduced or upscaled by the Phi ratio, it's an amazing thing nature how it balances density in a unified coherence.

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Good on you.👍.I was born in Cardiff 65 years ago and we were taught Welsh by an English education system that really did not care. Only a few decades earlier children were forcibly punished and humiliated for speaking Welsh in school. We would call it ethnic cleansing now but no one wants to remember it happened on your side of the border. Not that you had anything to do with it mind. I am now learning Welsh properly but I have always tried to pronounce Welsh words properly. I hate the way a lot of Welsh people don't care about their heritage. The geology varies, there is Mudstone and also a lot of ancient volcanic activity around here. The gold travels up through the cracks in the bedrock where there was once enough heat to allow it to flow in the quartz veins.. It's called mesothermal.

It honestly seems like an awful lot of effort for not much reward. Better to invest in crypto, it may be boring and doesn't get you out to special and secret places but at least you can gain your financial independence and never have to work again. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hex, and Pulsechain (once it has been launched) are the coins to hold and in some cases staked for yield. The secret is not to trade - just hold until your price threshold is reached and then sell them off as and when you need to.

I have no interest in Bitcoin or any other digital currencies at all Barry. Best of luck with your crypto adventures buddy. I'm not sure where my next adventure will take me, but it will be an amazing and uplifting experience nevertheless and I couldn't put a price on that.
