A very impressive return to ‘Tyndrum’ Darren, what stunningly breathtaking views, I was amazed at the amount of gold you were finding, a real bonus at the end of a successful couple of wild camping days with your beautiful Labrador buddy…..many years ago my late husband and I walked a small distance along the ‘West Highland Way’ something I shall never forget……more recently I traveled virtually the whole length listening to ‘Outlander’ star Sam Heughan’s biography ‘Waypoints’ on Audio…..if only time travel was possible…..back to those glorious days! have a wonderful day Darren, Bernice 🤗

It's lovely to hear you talk about the many great adventures you shared with your husband Bernice. I am a big believer in living for the moment whilst you have the health and well being to get out to do such things. I was in a bad way 25 years ago with my back and was bedbound unable to walk to the toilet. This was not a nice place to be. Once the pain started to relieve it's self, I started to tick off things on my bucket list and have never looked back. Thank you so much for your kind words and support Bernice, they are greatly appreciated.

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I thought I may be boring you Darren, but it’s so refreshing to see your enthusiasm for life, I’ve had enough grief in my life to last another life time, so I never take anything for granted, and live for the moment, I admire you greatly for overcoming such a devastating time in your life, to be in such a place as a young man must have been horrendous, I have suffered severe back problems for over twenty years and can barely stand or walk now, but at least I’ve had a long and eventful life, so one day at a time, it’s amazing how wonderful this world of ours is, bless you for being such an inspiration Darren and a good listener 🤗

Bless you both! I have a similar story, I lived for the moment for 30 years, a head and back injury, I fell down a cliff. 25 years later (now) I am just starting to feel I might be able to get back out there, my partner and children are encouraging me and having been a treasure hunter and outdoor man, I do wish to get on to it again, Tyndrum is on the list of first destinations, the girls are buying the panning equipment and some paydirt as we speak so we can practice... @@freemanbynature Hello, I’m so sorry to hear about you accident, that sounds devastating especially for an outdoors man, I’m sure with determination and the encouragement of a wonderful family your wish will come true, and Tyndrum is a great place to start your new found adventures…..I have always admired Darren ever since I first hitched a ride with him when he was ‘storm chasing’ just imagine an aging lady tearing around the countryside at warp speed, it was great 👍 not sure what my late husband would think of that, I had not long lost him to Parkinson’s after caring for him for over 25years, he developed it age 50. and bless his soul he never complained once, so I say live for the moment as I still do at the grand old age of 84 this year, my spirit is still willing but my body just doesn’t know it! Well I wish you and your family all the luck in the world, let me know when you make your first find of that precious gold, I’m sure Darren would say it’s a thrilling experience, but don’t expect to become a millionaire overnight! You've hit the nail on the head Sophie, everything here glistens like nothing else. Reminds me of Canada and the Klondike but it's on our own patch. Gold is unique. It has a lustre the same in the open light as well as in shade. It is also very heavy and will stay put when compared to lighter river sediments. It will not crush either, like pyrite does.

Hi there buddy, research is always the key, I'd practice with your pan and put some sand and gravels In a mix with 2 or 3 fishing weights. If you can find the weights after panning the gravels out, your on the right track. Secondly, look for inside bends with gravel bars at a river. The heavies drop out here. Bedrock is the lowest point any heavy gold will come to rest. It weighs more than anything else in a typical river. Lead is about 11g per cubic cm Gold is about 19.4g per cubic cm Lead is a good indicator that you are on a potential gold line. Keep me informed of your progress buddy

Good idea with the pay dirt for practice 👍 As for selling the gold, that's one thing I don't do. I just enjoy the adventure and fascination of it. It is space dust after all ....

Daz, That's Quite a sluice, A bit expensive for my pocket though. A Question, do you think that sluice is the reason for the big clean up? (Not taking anything away from your skills or hard work.) Congratulations, what did it weigh, if you do not mind?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures Жыл бұрын
Hello Freeman BN, The sluice is designed in principal for moving a lot of material and getting through the buckets but on this occasion I wanted to try it out by just gently feeding it. The difficulties on a river such as this one are the heavy black sands etc which fill the riffles up quickly and means that you have to do frequent clean ups. It seems to work well in both situations though but I always go back to basics with regards to how much gold you find. It has to be present in the ground at the spot you are working for you to have better outcomes. I think it goes to show that micro crevicing the cracks can pay off at the end of the day. I didn't bother weighing the gold from this trip as all I needed was enough to see in the pan in order to make a video worth watching. Thank you for asking the questions.....

When I filmed this adventure the estate wardens came over and spoke openly with me. It's a bit like either (ee-ther or eye-there) I get pronunciations wrong all the time and it can be a 50/50 call as to who's right

@MrDazP1adv3ntures I'm right it's Tindrum i live in the area. Great vids just pointing that out. The people that say diffrent are probably like yourself not from the area. Regards

Good on ya Kevin and thanks for raising the point. On my other Tyndrum video I got loads of corrections for saying Tin - drum by folk who told me it was T-eye ndrum. I'll know better for next time for sure now.👍
