His voice was like a fine wine, it got better and more mature with time. I saw them in 2007 & 2012, both concert in second row! This video doesn’t do justice at how powerful his voice was in concert. By the way, he sang all of the songs in their original key, and he even went higher on some of the songs to emphasize that particular part. Amazing!

We used to do this in my old band.. I know this is song is extremely difficult to sing. It takes A LOT of lung power and here he is not only singing it but also playing with the melody in ways that improves over the original but makes it that much harder. John Wetton proved himself as one of the greats of all time.

Yesssss, the original recording was/is great, but arguably a bit over-produced (a common issue with rock/pop studio recordings, esp in the '80s). I prefer it when the spotlight is on the vocals, especially considering the sad-but-beautiful lyrics of this particular song. In this live version, every word, line, and verse carries more weight, making the song all the more evocatively poignant.
