P.o.v It’s sometime between the 2000s and the mid to early 2010s, you go to the computer lab at elementary school and your teacher tells you it’s free time. You go onto the clunky old computers and click the icon for kid pix, you then put on the crappy somehow stiff foam headphones because the kid pix theme is really loud. You hear the kid pix theme play “1 2 3 4 (uno uno uno uno) kid pix, kid pix! Come on and play with kid pix!” The graphics and music in that intro scared you, but you still somewhat liked it. You then sit back in your computer lab chair and smile happily before creating a really weird piece of art that the teacher told you they loved once you showed them.

I remember my teachers in grade school setting ground rules regarding any of us students playing Kid Pix on the computer: We could not draw pictures that had the toilet stamp or the couple kissing. We were not allowed to use the TNT eraser (earlier that school year, a bomb was found near the playground so we were not allowed to talk about explosives of any kind or draw pictures of them) Oh and here's a dated rule from the era: Because Hanson and Spice Girls were all the hype back then, a few kids drew pictures making fun of The Spice Girls and Hansen. This prompted a No Pictures of Spice Girls or Hanson rule If any of us broke these rules, Kid Pix became off limits on the computer for a while (which is just as well considering the school computers also had Oregon Trail which most of us played instead)

I played this artistic game back in elementary school back when it had a computer lab since I was a School-Age student. It's quite a disappointment that my classmates AKA friends, my teachers, etc. weren't able to see my poem that I wrote in the 4th Grade which is called, "What The Light (Mask) Sees" by Andrea Patane on Kid Pix Studio, because I didn't bother to create it back then. They would love to see it in the Slideshow column which consisted of a moving van, of course.

Man, haven't changed a bit up until the early 2000s. The interface in Kid Pix Studio Deluxe is pretty much identical with the same sounds and everything, just with some additional modes and features and maybe some quality of life updates under the hood. Guess back then, Broderbund figured "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". They found a formula for the game that worked pretty damn well.
