thank you for this method, it actually helped with a method to calculate the total hours worked during each hour, over a period of time (where each row was a weekday, and working hours were not the same each day)

Hello Bill. You could also create a gantt chart using a stacked column chart. For every "project" you need to have two columns of data. The first is the start time and the second is the length of time for that project (or [@end time] - [@start time]). Then, create a stacked column chart and format the colour of the "start time" series as blank, so it becomes invisible.

Could the time be separated in quarters? 6:00 6:15 6:30 6:45, etc

This is pretty great. I have one issue though, anytime I use anything that extends past 24:00 it doesn't highlight anything, any thoughts? Basically, I can do any times after or up to 24:00. If a time starts at lets say "18:00" and ends at "02:30", nothing.

***** I would like the color to wrap back to the left as you mentioned. I would like to leave it as military time if possible without using the 26:30 method.

Thanks so much; very helpful! How can I incorporate the dates also? Such as a work week and each day shows the hours?

This is very clean approach which I like but I have an issue. For some reason after column AA or AB the conditional formatting is not formatting all the cells in the range. It seems to be omitting the first cell in the range. Anybody else with the same issue?

This is great, however when i use it and use "03/06/2016 15:00:00" as date format for both A2/B2 and D1->etc. then it seems like it has a problem marking the first one correct, it takes the hour after start. There is also an issue if minutes are like 15:30, it does not count before or after but only whole hours... any ideas are great.. ps. you are the greatest person i have seen with excel... thanks for sharing your knowledge in a easy and user friendly way.

Love the Vid. I am using a Gant chart for machine scheduling. I want to do 1 week at a time. My crews work 2 shifts so there are 16 hours in a day. Got that part no problem. Long story short I have tasks that can last 20-30+ hours, how can I get the my time to go from midnight, when 2nd shift ends, to 7 am the next day.

Bill, thanks for the reply. I ended up using a twist on your first suggestion. I had the full 24 hours in a day broken down by hours across the top of the chart. Then, I hid that 24 hour time line and I have the hours that will we work filled in above it. I just have the the visual representation of when a task should start and finish. What it does is, calculates change over times, takes run rate into account etc, so all the scheduler has to do is put in a task ie make 4800 of widget X then make 9600 of widget Y etc. What I really make is a capacity resource planing tool that will tell me: how much machine time it will take to manufacturing something, how many personnel I will need and looks at raw materials in inventory, when items have to ship, totals finished goods and calculates usage. Thanks again for the video, it was a great help. This was the most aggressive excel project I have ever done and I don't think I could have done it without your videos. Now I just need to figure out how to put it into access.
