Just did this to my 2007 3.7L a couple weeks ago. It's working great! The engine is a bit louder but not in a bad way. The only thing about this mod that I've noticed that he doesn't address in the video is it might make your transmission shift at weird times. sometimes I notice it hesitate before shifting up, but not entirely sure what specifically the root cause of that is.

The dowels on the V8 throttle body do not allow it to be placed on my engine. I have the same exact Jeep as you and I bought a throttle body off of a 08-13 Dodge Ram 1500.

My opinion the ecu would only drop as much gas as its supossed to programmed to do so it wouldnt make it no faster it just get there quicker cause the air rpm be faster wouldnt that make run lean idk for sure

First off I really enjoy your videos so thank you for posting them. Very informative but I do have a question on this and maybe you can answer it. I have a 2007 Jeep Commander with the 3.7l and so happen to have a beautiful 4.7l TB on me that only has 20k miles on it. I decided to try it out but ran into an issue. First off there are two little plastic notches sticking out from the intake manifold inlet so they line up with the indents for the 3.7l TB so that it’s straight on. The 4.7l TB has these indents as well but are off and seem to be further apart from the notches on the intake manifold. This doesn’t line up properly and prevents me to placing the 4.7l TB on the intake manifold. Bolts line up perfectly btw except for those notches to line them up. At the same time I have noticed that when opening the butterfly valve on the 4.7l TB, the intake manifold opening was smaller than the TB! So I decided to measure my 3.7l intake manifold and the opening was 2.5” just like my 3.7l TB. I plugged the 4.7l TB in the connector to see if it works and it does work but not understanding when people say that the 3.7l intake manifold openings is 3” when I measured it at 2.5”. This causes an issue because it will disrupt the air flow if the opening of the intake manifold is smaller than the TB. Hopefully you can shed some light here for me so I can understand it more. FYI P/N Throttle Body I have from a 4.7l is 53032837AB.

The 4.7 throttle body will either have to be rotated 180 degrees or need 2 of the notches shaved down to fit. I installed a larger intake when I did the throttle body swap so I’m not sure about the sizing for that.

@@Notrailrated I get what you are saying which is still questionable. The way you have your 4.7l TB is how mine always have been. I did try to turn it in different directions but doesn’t resolve that the 3.7l intake manifold opening measures 2.5” and not 3”. From all the forums I read they say that all 3.7l have a 3” opening at the intake manifold. Not sure if that’s true now that I did my measurements. I might even make a video on it. I question this because both Commander and Grand Cherokee 3.7l engines have the same intake manifold part number. So nothing is different with the two models. I guess what I am trying to say is that hopefully everyone doing this TB swap are really measuring the inlet of their intake manifold and know that both vehicles with the 3.7l intake manifold measures 2.5” and NOT 3”. This will interrupt air flow and be pointless. Possibly lower power and create worse MPG.

The throttle body was cleaned and reset, but the car engine was vibrating after about two days, when the transmission was at d or r, and the throttle was reset again, and after about two days, the vibration was back on again, so what is the solution?

And it has a cable throttle body will be 4.7 cable throttle body fits on like the fly by wire throttle body and do the same thing? I'm assuming it will. Are you talking about the wire connector that plugs into the throttle body? If so it definitely will disconnect but they don’t come off easily.

It’s the 2008+ front bumper. You’ll need to upgrade to an 08+ grill & headlights to fit the newer bumper.

the v6 3.7 connector and the 4.7 connector are the same, so the 4.7 connector output must be the same as your model, so the 3.7 and 4.7 engines are similar and thus compatibility in the throttle bodies
