your takeaway of the multiple asteroids as gateways to the difficulty walls in vanilla is interesting. my worry about the multiple asteroids had been that having to balance multiple colonies would be overwhelming, but i like the idea of playing the first asteroid over and over until you're ready to tackle the next technology stage and go to the oil asteroid. the starting asteroid having plenty of water and cooling really helps. that said, i've been playing the early access, and i think the limited materials is still an issue, as it puts a timer on how quickly you colonize the next asteroid.
@S_Black4 жыл бұрын
Having multiple colonies isn't really that difficult if you take it slow enough. Once you're established a colony can run itself for a bit without demanding your constant attention. Some things are limited, but there is still plenty. To me it seems people have a hard time making a distinction between things being limited in theory and what that really means in practice.

Hi! @8:40 yeah masks pile up. They only solution I've found is to force unidirectional ways, via doors, and sometimes, preferred ways, via shorter paths. In your case, if you allow dups go back via another way, they don't remove the mask, which eventually expires. It's not optimal, but it's way better than a pile of almost full masks lying on the ground, a huge waste in metal and power (not oxygen, they offgas is but then you use power and metal ore to put it in another mask). The worst case scenario here is a dup delivering something and then immediately going away, using the mask for 5 seconds only. They can do this 10-15 times during a cycle and leave a huge pile of masks to waste. Use unidirectional door to guide dups out via the mask station and in avoding it. It's suboptimal compared to how suits work but we have to live with it. If dups do multiple trips to space, at least if they keep the mask on they don't grab another one.

Francis at the start of the next episode can you pan out all the way on the new map: when you discovered it it showed the top, and you have the teleporter location so you can estimate the map size and how many biomes you will have of each resource. Also if this map generated using Terra preset you should be able to find Hatches and really expand on food and fuel production. Judging by the theme that is starting to develop you are going to have to start hopping asteroids to reach endgame; there is even the possibility that typical things (meteor showers) will only show up on specific map types. infinite filtration and/or shove voles may not be an option until you get out to a really desolate map. purely speculation though. I like the different planets because it forces you to be more focused. You can't go hop down to do oil refinement and an industrial brick on your starter planet. So, instead of shipping crude oil back to your starter planet just... build the brick where the oil is. So you focus on food for one planet, industry for another. I can already tell I'll probably have a goal of making an Elysium, one planet that serves exclusively to have a group of dupes who live in the lap of luxury(and therefore have the morale required to be rocketeers) and are supplied almost exclusively from imports from my other planets. It breaks the game into small chunks which I think will make it be a lot easier to play. I also think the fact that worlds no longer require everything you'll need means that you can have some really brutal ones out there that'll challenge veterans.

Try ranching one Plug slug for eggs with copper ore. The Plug Slug will produce 1600 watts of power and quite a bit of hydrogen. I send the eggs to another room to hatch and give me some extra power, along with meat once they starve and evolve. I am currently using that same room to farm Drekkos because of the hydrogen the plug slug produces. So 7 Drekkos and 1 Plug Slug. In order to make this happen you will need to make a rocket using the Carbon Engine. Transfer some Drekko eggs into the rocket by putting a storage bin in the rocket. Once the eggs are in the bin empty it on the floor so they dont evolve to eggs. When you get back to your main planet do the samething with a storage bin in the room you want to ranch drekkos. Also, a solid ranching set up with ALL of the different critters seems to be important for reaching sustainability.

A shutoff with a senor is cheaper to run for water. 10W to 120w. You could in theory run 10 of them for the cost of one filler. It does the same thing but shutoff is almost free to run. You could even pool both vents together splitting them for 10W when you take the water out. Make air? Split it for 10w to where it's going. For the cost shutoffs are the way to go 100% of the time. No matter how you do the math 10W is less than 120w:)

I am a bit suprised that Francis John does not use the powerless Liquid Filters he used in the mini Base run.

Side bonus of feeding the Grubs sulfur, they poop mud. More dirt and water is always good

I don't know, sulphur is a finite material until you get a sour gas boiler going, that is really far away. I would prefer to have the sulphur to feed to bugs to get more sucrose for the rocket. If you run out of sucrose you can't use the more powerful engine.
