There is a very similar game played in various parts of India and is called by different names with slight variations. Its called 'Pallankuzhi( pronounced as puhl-uhn-koo-yi) in the tamil language, which loosely translates to 'Pits and holes' describing the board. Very interesting to see similar games played across different cultures !

Do Indians also use red beads from a tree? I'm from Sri Lanka and even the game named after that tree.

2 or 3 times u landed on an empty spot, and u didn't take the opponent's rocks. Why?
@Kithmir2 ай бұрын
You only take the opponent's stones when the last stone you land goes to an empty cup on your own side. Not to non-last stones and not on the opposite side

We've always played with 3 stones in each section to start

Question.. Do the moves have to be contiguos or can you hop to any other gaps (mini mancalas)?

"my opponent gets a free move because he moved them in" around the 6:31 mark. I don't understand what happened there...please explain?
@prof.wailboutahra3 күн бұрын
He moved just one and it landed in the mancala. I think he made a mistake saying "them"
