Amazing transformation ❤ looks incredible. I wish I was as handy with the hardscaping. 😢 it looks like you yanked stuff out and plant new things each year. Is that because they didn’t thrive where you planted originally? Beautiful yard. Make time to enjoy it now!! 😂

Thank you so much for the kind comment! 90% of the plants and flowers we used in this video are annuals, so they only last one growing season. We are just lucky to live in Florida, where we can garden year round. The plants will continue on, but they will begin to fizzle out. Also, this previous year we put in a lot more shrubs that will be staying put.

When you have a dream, a vision, and you really want it in your life, you will find a way. Instead of new paving stones, you can scrounge up left over bricks from home builders. Instead of cedar mulch, you can get newly chipped wood for free from a tree guy and let it age in your yard for a year. Instead of buying all those plants at regular price, you can purchase on sale at the end of the season and get some divided plants from friends or your new neighbours…. there are so many ways to save. It will still cost you, for sure, but like I said…when there is a will there is a way. You can manie anything happen, but you need to get creative and think outside the box.

No. Just enough money. They didn't spend any time on this.
@spritzpistol5 ай бұрын
Absolutely brilliant! You both worked hard, and it paid off. I know how back breaking gardening is, so taking your time is a great way of enjoying the process and not getting too achey. You have a great eye for detail too. Love the cameo part by your pets too. (Ignore the insults about money, know one knows how many hours you work or what you do. I know people who go away abroad twice a year, have sky and all the add ins, have a new car every 3 years, most up to date tv, phone etc, wear the latest trends, pay for gym membership and never use it, drink like fish but have a rubbish garden moaning they can’t afford to do anything with it). How one chooses to spend their money is their business…people don’t have the right to paint other people as being well off, when they waste money and have little to show for it. I’m with you guys, my garden is my love and we choose to spend time and money on it, making sacrifices elsewhere. Aren’t we lucky we get to enjoy it all year round❤

This transformation is beyond impressive! Did you have a master plan at the onset, or was this more evolutionary in nature. I was surprised at how that equipment screen and the adjacent boost to the fence raised the "ceiling height" of the garden was well as making a powerful architectural statement that went on to become the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Amazing. Lush full, vibrant, and varied, your garden is a feast for the eyes. You should be very proud of this, guys. It's an absolute dream.

Couldn't find any info here explaining your project. Is this a business for you? Did you hire a company for the paving? Where are you located...FL? Looks like all warm weather plants. Did you plant so densely for immediate impact? Plants grow pretty fast in warm climates which would enable you to spend far less on plants. Is there an irrigation system or are you having to hand water? Could get pricy. Do you direct water from down spouts to rain barrels? What about code re bringing the fence tops so high? Neighbors looked very close. These are all issues for me and I assume others (unless they have more money to burn than most), so I assume the answers will be helpful. Or maybe you have them somewhere that I haven't found (?) Thanks!

I lost track of how many plants they took out because they tried them and didn’t like them in that spot. I’ve gardened for many years, and I must confess I moved things on the regular, and probably still would if I wasn’t too old to care; much. I also think that I didn’t see the beauty I had created in my garden, others could but not me. I always had this thought if I move just a few more plants…famous last words. Don’t be critiquing your own garden. You might tear out something beautiful.

Stone is a non-renewable resource. Once we cut it up, it can't attract clouds and bring rain. Also paving eats up lots of space that could be green otherwise. Nice to see the centella asiatica. My favorite plant.
