It's not a good research. What about custom maps? That Techland shared ChromED editor to make custom maps for both - COJ 1 and COJ: BiB? What about multiplayer in COJ 1 and various gamemodes on it that people still play to this very day. He forgot about some things, that's not the best research i've seen. What about DLC that was released for Bound in Blood only for the consoles, adding few new multiplayer maps What aboud a DLC for Call of Juarez (2006) that was only available on consoles as well - duel mode Eh..

What I love about your reviews is that you talk about the bad and the good, and don't just roast or kiss up to the games. Sometimes people just wanna suck a game off or burn it to the ground in their reviews, and having someone reviewing these niche games with more objectivity and balance is a net positive.

Call of Juarez really is slept on. I remember being upset that there were no hats in multi-player in a cowboy game, but looking back is was pretty killer with what they did. if they ever do decide a sequel. I hope that its a mashup of BiB and Gunslinger. Thats a killer formula.

no sequel will ever come out, mostly because the last installment of the series was hated by everyone and because red dead redemption set a bar so high I highly doubt any developer will approach the western genre anytime soon

In my opinion: Call of Juarez: Needs a remake in the engine of Bound In Blood. Bound In Blood: Needs a remaster for new consoles. The Cartel: Must be forgotten forever. Gunslinger: It's pretty good.

I feel like the reason Thomas became an abuse drunk was also the death of his brother. People pick different ways to cope where Ray went the religious route however Thomas went the self destructive path dealing with the pain.

If you’re looking for a stealthy multiplayer fps with cowboy aesthetics, check out Hunt: Showdown. I tried it and it’s not really for me since it’s more or less all stealth based. That and the servers are absolute dog shit.

Me too, I switched back and forth between the multiplayer on that and another almost game with nearly dead multiplayer at launch, Medal of Honor: Airborne. I've heard that some people on PC recently have started up some community servers on Bound in Blood in an attempt to populate it again, I believe they have a discord with some files to download. I haven't tried it though so I can't speak on its popularity. Fistful of Frags or Smokin' Guns are fun as stand-ins though, although they're pretty old and most matches are only against AI. I did try Hunt: Showdown and I like the aesthetics and visuals, but I didn't know what the hell was going on. That tends to be my experience with 'extraction' shooters as a whole though, I was even more confused when I tried EFT. If I remember correctly in Hunt I walked up to a guy and started using my mic, thinking it was kinda like DayZ or Rust back in the day and there was the option of working together with randoms to team up to fight the AI or do objectives together or something, but he just shot me in the face immediately. Pretty looking game though.

I found a Easter egg of the game sunset riders in RDR2. Turns out the city of Valentine in RDR2 is the same city of the bonus stage in Sunset Riders. If you go to Valentine stay in front of the stables and look to the city you see the store and the salon on the left and the hotel and many other stores on the right. It's the same of Sunset Riders XD

My personal theory as to why Billy claims that Thomas is a drunk abuser, is that he’s just projecting. It’s clear that Billy at the beginning of the game isn’t exactly a Saint. He literally steals multiple people’s guns, when we later see that the only reason he’d need one in the town, is because of his own actions while there. Thomas probably did beat Billy, but it was probably because he deserved it, though a young Billy never took it that way. And as for why his Mom told him where the gold was? Well… That really is a massive plot hole, I’ll be honest. Though my best guess would be that she saw a lot of who Thomas and Rey once were in him, and hoped that if he did find the treasure, it would be a wake up call for him like it was for them, rather than a death sentence, because she probably felt that he was going to go off treasure hunting no matter what she did. Although, that’s really just me writing a reason for the game, at that point. We never know his mom well enough in either of the games she appears in, to know why she would do this.

I remember when me and my brother shared the 360, he said he bought a game that was on sale that he said was a western, i got so excited since i thought he bought Red Dead Redemption, only to be disappointed it was CoJ: Gunslinger, so disappinted to the point i actually cussed him out, wasn’t until i finally played it myself, that i owed him one heck of an apology. And you bet when this game was released on Switch, i bought it soon as it went on sale, replaying the game on Switch, was like slipping into the comfiest pair of shoes, i must thank my brother very much for getting me into Gunslinger, though i never played the others and probably never will, as long as i have my Switch ever since my 360 broke, Gunslinger will remain a game in my library for years to come!

I swear I'm the only person who had no issues with the dueling in Bound in Blood because every time I hear people review this game, they always say the duel sucks major ass and it's fucking atrocious to control and I'm like ??????? and I played it on PC too, I found it easy and quick to learn the controls, I barely lost any duels.

Great breakdown, however there's only one thing I wouldn't agree on. Duels are actually great, especially in Bound in Blood. Reason you struggled with aiming is because you need to move simultaneously as the opponent moves. If he moves off your center your aim will be off and you will not be able to shoot him. I believe the instructions are presented in the first duel in the game.

The best part of Gunslinger is how the ending reconfigures what we thought of the adventure we saw being told and hits us with the revelation: what Silas has been telling us is the Truth , he is not making this up . Too bad the """Engraved Guns""" were so ugly .Wish they could have given us real Life examples of inlaid and engraved guns , like the pimped out Colt Single Action Armys that the Dalton Boys used at Coffeyville to signal their final strike .

I prefer the story of the first game, but damn does it feel awful to play at parts. The simple story of a wayward young man and his bitter step-uncle, both finding their way and learning to forgive the other through an epic cat and mouse chase that leads them down a path of needing to confront both of their pasts is really cool on paper. But sadly, while I do enjoy the general story and characters more here, there are many moments in the story that aren’t properly earned, as they just sort of happen. Like the game expects me to care when the native chief character is killed when we barely even got to know him. And the twist of who Billy’s father is, and how all of this is tied to Rey, his brother, and everyone else, makes basically no sense (and certainly isn’t helped by the prequel). The second game seems to be the most liked of the series, but the big moments that the first game hinted at are all ruined. Why would you ruin the moment where the brother dies, by overshadowing it with a fight against a confederate in a sinking sand city? Also, the fact that we met multiple characters from the original doesn’t add to the story, it just makes things more confusing. Like, the game should be an intimate story of a family being torn apart by greed, only for the untimely death of the youngest to finally make both elder brothers see the error of their ways. Instead, the story is hell set on making this dumbass confederate general into the overarching villain, that a lot of the themes and big moments are just ruined as a result. The first game didn’t even introduce the main villain until 3 missions before the credits. Yeah, granted, that came with its own set of issues, but the lesson to learn from that wasn’t “we need a main villain, and need to forcefully insert him into the story as many times as possible!” No one likes the third game. And the fourth game is a fun romp, but I really would have liked to see more from the son in the first game, he could have been part of the story, at the very least.
@MrHammers

Your criticisms of bound in blood are super valid when it comes to the storytelling. I personally thought it was the strongest game in the series, but I think they could've made the plot a little more independent of the prior game. But on the other hand the first two games are really the only two that were related at all. Cartel and gunslinger just did their own thing
