Eidos, Rare, Konami, Squaresoft, Apogee, Enix, Capcom, Rockstar, anything with the name Hideo Kojima stapled to it etc. Some of those marks of, at least at the time, near guaranteed quality, give or take a questionable decision here and there. I would play demos of Eidos games more than actual ones, Hitman 2 at the time being one, but they all just REEKED of quality and drive toward fun schüt game above all else.

I didn't think you'd ever get to Urban Chaos: Riot Response, so happy you did! This game was one my all time favourites from that old grungy era of games, the excessive dialogue of the gang members, the way they non stop talk sh*t to the player using no end of F-bombs and calling them by name with their psychopath voice over delivery. It mad fun fighting these guys the whole game.

Damn this brought back memories. My older Cousin was and still is a hardcore gamer and would always let me borrow a game whenever I seen him and he let me borrow this and I was hooked, one of my fav moments is when you're on the container level and one of the burners was hanging off of a crane, was so satisfying hitting a shot and watching him fall in slow motion. Great video!

You chose a genuine real gem here bud, one of my absolute favorite guilty pleasures I still enjoy today! Reminds me of a first person "Manhunt" game with the numerous hard core street thugs! This game is also somewhat prophetic as crime in America is quickly ramping up to the levels of violence within this game ironically. I enjoy all my original Xbox games via my 2 modded original Xbox consoles via component cables for a crisp resolution on a older high end Samsung TV. Many seem to give up on playing a older game if it's not available to play on a PC, it's so easy to enjoy non backwards compatible Xbox & Xbox 360 games simply by using the original consoles which are plentiful & affordable.

The most mid-00's shooter ever made, featuring perhaps my favorite ridiculous enemy faction that is literally just Al-Qaeda Postal Workers. Never would have experienced this if my Grandma didn't pick it up for me graduating 8th grade because she thought It was something I would like judging from the cover. The games pretty brutal in hindsight where deaths to certain burner thugs will have them torture and play with Nick until he croaks, too. Even the escort missions feel empowering because your NPC buddies can easily hold their own, hell even the EMT can swing a KO punch and the Firefighters straight up go Jack Torrence on Burner asses! It's also got great pacing for the most part, with enemies lugging around Cleavers and Sawn-Offs before becoming fully militarized halfway through. The major problem I had is with the unlocks, as not only are older weapons locked out for you but unlocks infinite ammo that cannot be turned off making the game a cakewalk even on harder difficulties. But the worst offender is the pistol that goes from being a borderline air-soft handgun to becoming a literal WMD with the final unlock turning it into a god damned minigun. An absolute crime it never got a PC port. It's in the same boat as Black, Condemned 2, Bodycount and Cold Winter, permanently locked behind old tech that without a proper remaster, will never get a second wind.

@viscountrainbows2857 Жыл бұрын
Yeah sometimes it would be those games you got on the cheap, that were as good as all the Big Shelf titles for 40-50 at the time. They were just underestimated, not actually bad, but sometimes it was impossible to find out until you got home. for instance, I got Oni and Shaman King on PS2. I only bought Shaman King to see if I would get deeper into the anime/Manga. I didn't. Also I beat the game in like, 3 hours. And I couldn't go into versus mode unless I had a friend willing to play as well... so yeah 🍑💨 Oni was new to me but it was actually kinda fun at times. combat was dynamic and fluid, and a particular cheat code let you become any NPC in any given level for interesting play mechanics and takes on fights that were downright absurd in some instances and a power fantasy in others. Only problem was that the game's lighting was abysmal so if you were invincible and didn't make a certain jump, you were just stuck in Limbo and had to reload, and the game is very bad about telegraphing where you should go in more open areas. Other than that, I would recommend it highly as a janky little mid 00s treasure by Rockstar games attempting an anime game.

The PS2 (or 6th gen in general really) was so amazing. We were spoiled for such a huge variety of great games back then without realising it. Nowadays most of those games might look a little rough around the edges. But the originality and innovation on display. And the interesting ways of experimenting with gameplay. And atmosphere they had to create and rely on to make up for technical limitations is timeless. Every game felt different and new. And to this day I discover new and interesting titles I never heard of. Even boring or generic titles. And many of the licenced games had more effort put into them and were better than they had any right to be. Ironically playing a new PS2 title for the first time often feels more fresh and exciting than playing a modern AAA title.
