Review and demo of cheap guitar sustainer The Sound Stone.
The Sound Stone is a device for your electric guitar that forces strings to vibrate. So, you get endless sustain... And your guitar sounds like a cello... or violin. You just need to turn this device on, place it over the string... hit some note... and here you go.
I show how it works without any effect (on clean channel) and how it sounds with different effects (chorus, vibrato, tremolo, reverb, delay, distortion, fuzz...).
Must say I got a big dose of fun with this device. It costs quite cheap. But it gives you a possibility to get absolutely new sounds.

Flint Steel if they have metal strings it should work, it would just be quiet. Use if if you plan on using a microphone on your guitar

I made some really long sustaining notes when I passed some Kidney Stones, does that count? Guess they never heard of the EBow in Russia before even though they've been around for almost 50 years.

It sounds weak compared to an ebow. It seems to be having a relatively difficult time starting the strings going, compared to an ebow. Or maybe it's just your inexperience. These sustainers do have a bit of a learning curve. For example, there are a couple of simple techniques that can be used to make these things much more interesting and valuable. I do these things and I';ve been waiting to see if anyone else will tip to these basic things, but over the last 30 years, I've only run across literally a couple of people who have taken the time and brainpower to figure this thing out. It's weird. I think I'll buy a sound stone and finds out if it is as powerful as a classic e bow. I've heard that the Yoyo is actually stronger, which I would love, since I use these on acoustic as much as I do on electric. Thanks for the video.
