Any idea of a fuzz pedal that would have that cranky sound as at 2:20 and onwards? I checked the big muff but it's not quite the same...

I did a session years ago, people often asked how I got the huge fuzzy lead tone on one track - it was a Boss DS-1 going into an MS-2 which was stuffed inside a piano with the sustain pedal wedged down. The engineer and I were very bored and were just messing around while the singer went out to grab food, but it turned out to be exactly what was needed. EDIT - Bloody hell, never thought this would get replies - this was about 30 years ago and it was for some singer songwriter dude whose name I can't remember (Luke something maybe? My brain is a potato, yours would be too if you worked in the industry back then) we just had fun making weird noises on the clock. I seem to recall also playing through one of those little Marshalls while someone swung it around by the cable to try and get a faux-Leslie sound, haha. Crazy things went on in studios back then I can assure you!

@japanlovesyou

The would also need to ensure that the input voltage and resistances to the amps were controlled so they could properly compare. It's not so simple as just splitting the signal here.... If we're talking technically. It very quickly becomes a very advanced problem in both acoustics and electronics one which clearly these two dudes either don't understand, or didn't care to account for... Click bait indeed, yet not. It delivered but lacked technical analysis....I was disappointed they didn't even qualitatively discuss how it sounded...

Battery powered amps are really great for recording lead tones. I had the little battery powered amp and when it was cranked it would get fuzzy sound that happens when the battery can’t meet the voltage demand. I learned this trick from the guitarist of STP that used an Altoids can amp to record one of his solos. Little battery amps can sound massive.

After watching this video i drained my life savings and bought 50 ms2's. I have a line 6 spider and was saving for a 50 watt plexinn but i bought this instead. Although it is problematic at gigs, the tone is a huge reward. I may regret this decision but at the moment i feel like god. Thank you for this advancement in tone.

Its pretty lame that they aparently cant keep track of the amp names and give two amps the same name. I do own the rack preamp myself.
@BionicSammich
@BionicSammich 6 жыл бұрын
They kept track of the names, but it was just unfortunate that the names overlapped. They had also discontinued the rack JMP1 years before the other one came out.
@Stefan-
@Stefan- 6 жыл бұрын
BionicSammich I know the rack was discontinued, but i wouldnt call it keeping track of the names since they reused the same name, it just got to be a mistake or they are just stupid. No sane person would prefer to have a new product confused with an old discontinued product.

yes, a 12 will send out more sound and disperse better, so little speakers can not make the lows or probably even a cumulative low to compete...but could those 50 do a gig?
@Godmil
@Godmil 6 жыл бұрын
Interesting question. If you double the sound source you get a 3db increase. So whatever dB one of those things has you'd get (2,4,8,16,32,64) less than 6 doublings which would be a gain of less than (3x6 =) 18dB. So probably not too loud.
@richardboatwright4919
@richardboatwright4919 6 жыл бұрын
Alexander Sack actually lows are just frequency and not volume of air moved, the lows are missing because the electric parts of the components are crap. If they went directly into the 50 power amps instead of into the crap preamps they'd lose a lot less low end. And if they'd replace those speakers with really expensive 8in speakers and the amplifiers with nice expensive amplifiers, they'd get an even better sound, might even compete with the 50W in terms of tone if it were not for the fact that they would almost certainly be far enough out of phase just from different impedances from variation in manufacturing that they'd sound super muddy still. Tldr: the bass loss and muddy sound stem from the materials in the amps and not the small size of the speakers.

They sound like the time I was staying out at my friend's place but didn't want to go all the way back to my place to pick up my guitar and gear, for a band practice of a project I was involved in but didn't care that much about. I used my friend's rubbish guitar that had like four strings (usually just a wall hanger) and with a bit of soldering managed to get one of the pickups going. There was already a power amp and speaker cabinet at the rehearsal space so for a pre-amp / distortion I run the guitar straight into the mike input of an old cassette deck and out the headphone output of this into the power amp. It got the rehearsal done for sure, but really felt like work! lol

How about both- with a full cross-overed PA including Celestions and subs, played on the second level of a barn with wood floors. I'd suggest a 56 Strat played in neck position with plenty of reverb, and properly wired 120v service to keep the hum to minimum. I can dream.
