This is acting at its best, pure poetry in action !

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for uploading this! The only version I've ever seen of this is Lumet's movie version. And I absolutely love it. It's one of my favorite movies of all time. For years now I've wanted to see the theatrical version of this riveting family drama. And now I can!

Love this play. Love this cast.

At 31:35, when Mary says she is going to go upstairs, Edmund should look horrified/sad. He knows what that means. "Going upstairs" is the play's euphemism for shooting up. Generally, this version of the play is run too fast. But I do like some of the overlapping dialogue. Personally, the only version is the Katharine Hepburn version. She breaks your heart and makes the pain of addiction so real.

I have tried many times to post the Second Part of this Drama, but KZbin prefrences/rules/laws are not allowing me to do so. I tried to contact with them but I didnt get any feedback. Will post the second part soon whenever they allow my account/channel!

Jack Lemmon is very very good using the low voice for James's carping on his sons.

The monotone line deliveries kills this production.

Why does everyone seem well-suited but Spacey.
@markwoldin1625 жыл бұрын
Well suited? Spacey is not well suited? If anything, the weak link seems to be the great Lemmon, whose nervous, eager energy militstes against the sad, grand Irish grief in Tyrone, diminished by his petty money obsession but still grand. Nicholson failed in Reds for the same reason. It's a tall order. Compare Lemmon's Tyrone with Richardson's. As for Spacey, spot on.
@Manima108 Жыл бұрын
Probably because the audience can’t suspend their disbelief when spacey isn’t fondling the other character’s testicles without consent

I am so glad that all of Kevin‘s accusers happened to pass away from natural and/or fantastical causes. And the ones that survived couldn’t hold a flame against the winds of “truth”. Lmao. But seriously, is it OK to appreciate his acting talent, but want justice? I imagine a better world where people like Spacey, Singer, etc are drawn and quartered. And yes, I intentionally don’t want them hanged before the D&Q.

They rush though the play as if they were doing TV situation comedy. Miscast and badly directed. Jack Lemon is not right for the role.
@joystrimple45615 жыл бұрын
disagree. This play can turn into a real scenery chewer. Most actors attack the roles instead of 'living' them. Lemon understood the character .

Open your mind a bit, I find it fantastic.
@unclealand Жыл бұрын
@@margotbw4660 He's not believable as a successful matinee idol/great actor from that time. The production was directed to speed up the scenes and deliver the lines too quickly. The poetry is lost, and the tragedy of the Tyrone family becomes something like a 1970 made-for-TV family drama.
