No they didn’t, the water isn’t actually from the river. It’s just water tanks.

Running fresh water in a lot of places around the world is clean. The filtration is done by the stream itself. Now whether or not that’s the case here or if they used water tanks I don’t know, but the running clear water doesn’t seem too far fetched to me. (Them digging out the entire pool completely manual on scoop at a time on the other hand… can be done, but probably a lot of help behind the scenes)

I saw a column off to the side which could be filter tower... You would use gravel, then sediment, then sand. It's common in built up areas as a 'biofilter' for flood management.
