@@mwcviper7314 The plural of matrix is matrices. What they are, is mathematical structures for organizing the information of systems of linear equations, such as this example, and keep track of your work a lot better than if you were to just work with them as individual equations.
@Я_Яша11 ай бұрын
@@RisingwoodsGal The thing is, I have never taken math seriously until I started uni (Engineering), so since I have a degree in tourism, you can now see by yourself that my high school degree doesn't require any kind of math skills at all, especially in today's world (you know AI and calculators are rather predominant in any field that isn't scientifically related) moreover where I live the school system is pretty damn different from the American one, plus I'm barely 19 and well... safe for me to say I am young, therefore I still have plenty of time for me to study and improve my knowledge.

The old school method is to cover and multiply through to find x, y, and z. Then add and or subtract to find x, y, and z. I studied 4 years in aerospace engineering and your short cut method is short and painless. I’ll never stop learning. Thank You.

The method of positive diagonals and negative diagonals as he showed here (the rule of Sarrus), only works for 2x2 and 3x3 matrices. Once you get to 4x4 matrices and beyond, it no longer works. That is probably why they taught a much more complex method, so it can generalize for higher dimensions of matrices.

When I was a Business student in university, we were never taught Cramer's rule for solving for systems of equations with three or more variables. In fact, I often used Gauss-Jordan Elimination or Simplex Method (typically used for Linear Programming) when solving systems of equations with three or more variables.
