I like the idea of getting the Chaos Emeralds in the late game (such as Sonic 06... granted, that takes several hours for you to touch/obtain an emerald for the first time). It makes them a lot more special and "rare" in a sense, at least in my opinion.

I'm late on this and not sure if anyone mentioned it, but the actual fastest route to touching a chaos emerald in Sonic Heroes is actually playing Team Chaotix's first stage. They don't go through the entire stage since you have 10 of 20 hermit crabs to collect and those 10 you need can be collected about as fast as team rose's version of the stage.... only w/o the tutorial.

The Sonic 2 special stages are harder than the Sonic 1 special stages. Maybe they're good with improved frame rate, but on original they were nearly impossible even with a 2 player effort. So, literally, how is it possible, that you struggle with Sonic 1 special stages if you can handle the kaizo tubes? Also, Blue Spheres is the best special stage.
