I’ve worked in customer service for 10 years. Customer service is really customer SERVANT. It’s slavery. Overworked and underpaid. As long as workers are nice to me, I’m nice to them. I don’t bother anybody. If I don’t like the service, I just go to a new place. Simple.
@GrumpyDoodlebug2 жыл бұрын
And that's why people are so frustrated with you. You sound like a crappy employee. It's not slavery. Slaves don't get paid and can't leave. If you don't like your job, work somewhere else.

Customer service on the phone can be horrible ... sometimes worse than in person and I try to always be kind to whoever I'm talking with . The problem I have is it seems a lot of younger people seem to have ADHD and I don't say that lightly ... it's as if they don't hear what I'm saying and I have to sometimes repeat it . And I speak clearly and slowly and I can remember even times when giving people my address where I had no faith in them and I politely asked them to repeat it back to me cuz I had a feeling they wrote it wrong and yes sometimes they get it wrong ... and it's a good thing I asked them to repeat it so that I could make sure they got it right . The weird thing is I have never ever had this problem with old people or older people in customer service on the phone and usually no problem with them in person either .
@hughm13835 жыл бұрын
You missed a common problem that I've encountered repeatedly: staff giving unsolicited suggestions/advice in the form of a command. A simple choice of words can transform excellent customer service into terrible rudeness.

Boss: "Guys, that poor man with glasses is just trying to get some help getting what he needs. He walked out because you wouldn't give him service. Now I gotta call from the coordinator who is not happy what y'all did. You made several customers complain about our poor service we've been having. Y'alll are rude and do not deserve to work here. You're fired!!" Staff: "WHAT?!?"

The next day. Boss: "Hi, good morning, sir. I'd like to apologize what happened during your 1st time at slugg's lumber. I'll address this to my staff about why this happened. Rudeness is very unacceptable and we expect every customer to have good experience with us. I completely understand if you choose not to return, but if you do, I'm sure you'll have a better experience. Again I'm very sorry about what happened and I'll address this to my staff immediately. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I saw you told a friend and your friend addressed this to me. Feel free to call the store if you have anymore questions. Thank you and have a good day."

Yes except the customer probably never went back to that place so therefore the conversation with the boss probably didn't happen . Most of us if we have a problem with the store will avoid it for a long time because of how frustrating it was and sometimes we just never go back

Excellent. You have to greet them. They assume that you know. They don't help you get it. In short, they're doing you a favor to answer your question. Then, back to their phone/social media. He did the right thing, taking his business elsewhere AND reporting it ON social media, since that's where today's generation "lives" - and the only place that they respond. Conversely, whenever one gets good customer service - basically the opposite of this - report that as well.

We all have been there! The customer service can’t help, not knowledgeable and quotes company policy so they don’t have to find a solution.
@bayingjase20067 жыл бұрын
Your employees are behaving this way because they're tired of dealing with jerk customers all day and because you refuse to post a "No Customer Abuse Will Be Tolerated" sign on the door. While the occasional nice person like this gentleman comes in, the employees are already dealing with PTSD from every other customer that day and will avoid speaking to anyone if they can help it. Customers may not like the service they receive anymore, but they've brought it upon themselves and I'm not apologizing to any of them.
@akofsum54257 жыл бұрын
I've been in the customer service field for years now and I'm going to be honest with you; you will have to put up with bad customers every day no matter where you work because at the end of the day, you're still a customer service representative. Your goal is to help the company make sales. If you refuse to help customers, that's your problem and your company will fluctuate in sales thereafter.
@phag30487 жыл бұрын

Horrible excuse. I have been in customer service for ten years. You treat people with respect and you help them.
@bayingjase20067 жыл бұрын
+Chapstick Addict I've been in customer service MORE than ten years and maybe that's why I'm a bit more sour than you? I don't know. But customers shouldn't believe that they are allowed to do or say anything they want to anyone for any reason. I was taught in order to get respect, you give respect. And if they want to behave like a child at Walmart who didn't get a damn toy then that's their problem and don't take it out on me. I don't got to their place of business and misbehave! Act like decent human beings and we wouldn't have to have discussions or videos about this subject.
