Great job! What do you do with the stock ecu, car wiring, etc? Is there 2 ecu’s now or did you rip out all the stock wires and put the donor vehicle wires and ecu in there? I’m considering doing that to my ‘95 Trans Am but the wires scare me.

Mine is a 1983 it was originally carbureted so it never really had a ECU. I kept the old harness in there because it’s only a few simple wires back then . I actually use part of the old harness to power the new engine harness

I guess the reason why it is quieting down is b/c it is idling higher with richer fuel/air mixture at start up to get the catalyst faster to operating temperatures. And yes, I know they are missing. I hope those BMW wheels as fastened with lug nuts that have separte cones? 0.65mm bigger pattern may not sound much but just to be sure those rims don't crack at the hub.
@613Builds
@613Builds 5 жыл бұрын
they are missing? what is "they"? sorry if i lost track. i had a leak at my duct tape MAF sensor coupler but i recently fixed it with a proper coupler. i just ordered a fuel pressure test kit today also. you're right 120mm is 0.65 mm different. now imagine 1mm. now imagine 0.6 mm. now split 0.6mm into a 5 lugs, or 4 directions, or into a pie. the difference 0.6mm total, but split accross the diameter it's only 0.3mm . 0.3mm is only slightly thicker than a human hair. but you're right, the pattern is 120mm vs 120.65mm. the bmw always used a metric measurement whereas the camaros always had a SAE american standard unit of measurement. i had 18" bmw wheels my 95 firebird also and i pushed her hard, put on lots of miles, and did burnouts with no issue.

Hello why did you use the 700r4 transmisión better than the 4l60 which work better
@613Builds
@613Builds 4 жыл бұрын
personal preference. i like the 700r4, and this type of car originally came with 700r4 so it plugs right in. ive never had problems with my previous 700r4's but i have had problems with 4L60's before. 4L60 is known to be weak but i have always liked the old 700r4 because it fits, its simple, and it has overdrive. ive pushed these cars hard and no problems with the 700r4. mostly just personal preference. if you are pushing over 400-500 hp then i would switch to the 4L80e heavy duty overdrive (electronic)

I’m still on the same used junkyard 700r4 and I’ve been driving it already this year, I think this is my 3rd year driving it. I had it rebuilt once with a shift kit but I recently learned that you can now buy an aftermarket tv cable adapter kit to fit the LS engines. Might be the best way to go if you don’t want to build your own cable bracket with hood geometry and proper throw. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I noticed my buddy had one on his car and he said he got it from a transmission company I believe. Kick Down cable!!!??? LOL If you go to all the trouble to swap out a motor I'm not sure why you would not want to upgrade that old 700R4 to a computer controlled 4l60e. They are cheap to build and easy to find, it's a bolt in plug and play for your setup.

Michael Dose ya except I removed all the electronic transmission wires from the harness completely 🤦🏽‍♂️ if I could do it again I probly would have kept the 4LE plug and wires incase I wanted to go electronic in the future. I guess I could still do that but I’d have to swap the harness and my original speedometer on the dash is cable driven 1983 . I would enjoy a stronger manual transmission like a NV3500 or t56 or something but that’s a lot of changes which I don’t feel like doing right now. The 700r4 is working good for now. That’s what they came with originally in the 3rd gen was the 700r4 overdrive transmission

@@613Builds Yes, it came with a R4, which was plagued with problems. One of which was the TV cable. I get that having a bunch of "extra" wires is unsightly, and as you pointed out it becomes a whole new job to restore a butchered wiring harness. Definitely, not an easy redo. Just taking it off another donor vehicle is not easy. Live and learn. When I do an upgrade I like to take advantage of as much engineering as I can. GM spent millions to develop and improve the drive train that you only half adopted. The axle is pretty much unchanged but there were many refinements in the engine and trans. Yes it does lead to other problems like the speedo cable. I haven't personally dealt with that one but I am willing to bet there is an upgrade. I am currently working on a 57 Jeep and getting rid of the cable speedo is great because when you change gears and tires the speedo pretty much becomes useless. I can get a factory fuel injection, factory controller for a fraction of what an aftermarket F.I. system would cost for my old sbc which currently occupies the engine bay. So having a programmable speedo will be a great upgrade.

Can it be done on electric throttle body ? Kick down cable
@613Builds
@613Builds 5 жыл бұрын
good question! it has been done before but it's not technically compatible. i saw one guy on youtube who talked about running the kickdown cable to the electronic pedal somehow. the reason why i used a 2002 throttle body and harness was so i could retain throttle cable. i need a mechanical connection between the man and the machine, personally i find the drive-by-wire systems to be laggy. ive driven several DBW GMs and it seems like you hit the throttle and 2 seconds later the electronic throttle body finally opens, so laggy i dont like the electronic throttle bodies. with my 2002 throttle body on my 2005 engine, it allows me to have an instant connection via throttle cable between my foot and the throttle body. either way the older mechanical kickdown cables arent made to connect to the gen3 engines. i had to custom build my bracket and throttle body lever for my TV cable

Most of my videos are to demonstrate achievement with minimal tools and minimal budget. This will work for me simply bypassed as I've previously demonstrated in 2018. I always try to do most stuff myself and try to be independent as possible. If I have a proper 5.3 CPU running on a mrjohn613 bypass, I don't see what or why you would need programming. Maybe you can San explain more what you mean? Most people will tell you that you will require a "tuner" , that's what they told me. But I didn't listen and I got it running by myself. I would consider running, tuning, and programming to all be 3 different things. I'm running DIY bypass and I can run and drive like that. If you want performance you need a tuner to tune. If you need to flash program , you need a dealer or a pro tuner. What do you need to program?
