I must be odd, a dirty, grimy, muddy sports car looks better than a show room queen. Can't wait for more of the classic series. Been going through my cars I had when I was much younger and hope you will also include cars like Ford RS 1600, Ford Seirra RS Cosworth and even a Renault 5 Turbo which at the age of 18 felt like the fastest car in the world lol.

Gert Carnewal sells a remote switch system to have the valves on or off as you wish bypassing the Porsche "Nanny system". Easy fix, worth investing in cos it works.

There are companies that sell a valve controller for the standard valves. so you can open and close them from in the car and won't have the drone on the motorway

Great vid again James. Particularly love the GT3 vids, being a fellow 991.2 GT3 driver. My OPC informed me, that fitting of the Sharkwerks exhaust would invalidate the warranty. 😢 I shall just have to keep enjoying the sound of your GT3! 👍

Amazing. I have an ipe installed on my mark 2 and experienced exactly the same. Upshifting higher in the rev band is insane, downshifting only in the same high part of the rev band. Is this just a question of taking out the valves and put the whole thing together again ?

So basically you've forced the valves open all the time (bmw owners will remember the old golf tee mod) Does sound very good, but a better solution would be remap the oem switch so that when on it opens the valves at any revs, and when off (say cruising on motorway) you can have it quieter

I had the same issue with my 997 3.8s was so quite until you where ringing the neck off it , so I’ve gone for the gundo hack for the moment and it’s made such a difference nice to hear the engine around the 3000 rpm mark , as always top work James excited for the next modern classics video .

James you just need a remotely operated gizmo which overides the vacuum controller. A quick google and I see that a company called CARNEWAL, have such a system for the Porsche 991 and others. I have a similar Forza Componetti version for my Audi RS and it works great., valves open or closed on my say so, via a remote fob.

Mr JWW, you may be able to take out the fuse that opens/closes the exhaust valves. I did this on my camaro ZL1 and now the valves always stay open.

Manual 991.2 gt3”s don’t appear to have the downshift sound issue at all. There is always a very audible exhaust tone along with the pops, bangs and crackles when changing down.

Brian Himmelman Sorry to disagree but there are def exhaust pops etc when changing down in the manual 991.2 gt3. My observations are not from watching utube video’s but rather driving my own gt3 around everyday. If you have one just try for yourself by having the exhaust valves open button on while you go fron 4th to 3rd then 3rd to 2nd.

So I have list of classic car reviews; TVR Sagaris, (stock)R34 GT-R, 997 gt3, I would love to see you in a Type-R civic(a stock one that put civiv type r on the map), NSX and a Ferrari Scagleatti...this ferrari just gets no love on the internet, and 997 are always nice gt3 of course. One more, since Mercedes has billion models and i dont know them but how about that 2 door amg grand tourer that looks like a slr...lol. sorry i just dont know Mercs.
