So I looked it up... The national "living wage" for London England if you're 21 or older, in 2 years would only amount to 43,929.60 euros. The cheapest house in London England is 240,000 euros. You would need to earn 62.50 euros an hour minimum to be able to afford that house in 2 years which is why I put "living wage" in quotations because it's actually NOT a living wage. I did point out that's if you're 21 or older to give the best chance cause apparently if you're younger than 21 your living wage is even less and that best case situation is still not even half of what you would actually need. It's hard to stay positive when you actually do the math and realize how unrealistic the goal is. It also doesn't help that this is all based on how things are right now, the housing market keeps rising every year so even you do have a good paying job that could get you there, they're just going to move the goal posts so it's more likely that you will need to round up to 80 euros per hour or more to be able to afford a house in 2 years.

I doubt the person literally meant two years. They could have been saving prior to that? The person mentioned negative people saying their goals are unattainable, and here you are doing just that? It's ok to be realistic, but reading through your comments, you sound like you're a pessimist.

@@charlalar14 Like I said, I did account for that possibility and rounded up to give them the best possible chance I could cause you're right, they could have saving prior to that but as I said in my original comment, you actually get paid LESS if you're under 21 years old. I don't know the age of the person or how long they've been saving for already but none of that matters when the total would actually be a lot LESS than what I initially calculated for. Did you ever consider that people are telling them that those goals are unattainable because math doesn't lie. I can do the calculations again. From 16 to 17 they can earn 14,496 euros per year. Total so far: 28,992 From 18 to 20 they can earn 19,200 euros per year. Total so far: 86,592 And from 21 and over it's 23,443 euros per year. Now lets actually count how many years it would take to reach the goal which remember the goal here to reach 240,000 110,035 133,478 156,921 180,364 203,807 227,250 250,693 That's now a total of 12 years all together to get a house by the age of 27. And remember the housing market isn't static and actually keeps going up meaning you're actually shooting for a moving goal post. So really while the goal NOW is 240,000 in 2 years it won't be. No amount of optimism is going to make those numbers work. You have to actually be able to earn at least 13:85 an hour from the time you're 13 years old for that to actually be a realistic goal and that's just not what people are actually getting paid.
