same thing I really wanted to like the limber solo, i purchased a two tone and had feeding problems and extracting. Kimber "fixed it" and the problems remained. I sold it for a big loss. I waited till the solo dc came out and tried it again. Shooting underwood +p+ 147 grain… on the 5th shot the right safety blew out of the gun… Wow What a pcs of crap. my Sig 938 eats +p+ all day. I do have a limber master carry custom that I love and have never had a problem with but it's a little large to carry. I want to try the ultra carry II but I do not want to lose more money.

I looked at the Kimber solo but it was a little to snappy for me. Yes.. The ultra carry has kick to but its more manageable.

FrustratedBaboon Mine is carried a lot and shot very little so it's not that big a deal for me. Even so, the soft aluminum feed ramp was being noticeably gouged by what I think was the sharp magazine follower in the factory mags. I've since switched to Wilson mags with the solid black follower and haven't noticed it getting any worse. Have to say though, this little Kimber is the most accurate handgun I have ever fired, and that includes full size guns.

Super weapon, easy carry and high confidence should it be employed. Best combat caliber by far. Having said that, a single action handgun is NOT for everyone, and serious objective thought should take place before doing so. I like to say one should be a well trained "gun person" and not just a concealed carry individual. JMHO

Thanks for making this video. I think I'd prefer to carry with a live chamber. @3" that's an AWSOME sidearm. My only concern would be round count, (you covered that). It would definitly be easier to carry than my XD 45 though.

I know what you mean buddy! Although the black looks pretty bad ass, but if your going to carry it, it will eventually eat away at the finish. Seems like the stainless holds up pretty well on the one that I have. Hey, but xmas is coming and ya never know what that will bring. Stay safe, Stay armed, and god bless my friend!

With all due respect, that holster seems like it would be terribly uncomfortable for a 1911. Seems that the beaver-tail would dig in to my side where I typically carry (~4-5 o'clock).
@MrKZizzle

I also carry 4-5 o'clock and I cant say that I find it unconfortable in any way but thats just me. People are different. I have been carrying that 1911 for a long time and dont have anything bad to say about it. Again... thats just me.

With the 40S&W higher velocity and energy, why do we love the 45 acp? I have a 1911, a baby eagle, a 4566 and a DAO p250 compact... But only one 40 S&W.By the way, I am in upstate NY where there is a 10 round capacity limit.

+tom bats My thought is that if I can only carry 7 - 10 rounds its going to be a 45..
@tombats6428
@tombats6428 9 жыл бұрын
MrKZizzle Yes but the 40S&W has higher velocity and more energy than the 45 acp. I just got a box of Winchester PDX1 45ACP that has the velocity at 920fps and 432 fps of energy, which approaches the 40S&W. Now the 4566 TSW it my favorite handgun. At 38oz loaded is below the weight of my 1911 and my Baby Eagle. AND the frame is SS instead of aluminum. There are some light 45 acp rounds that have high velocity and energy, but who can afford to shoot $2 bullets.

Yo I just love Kimber guns but a little bit too expensive but if I had it I would own every model they make the sweetest looking guns on the market. I probably would carry my ultimate carry gun would be the FN 7 THAT GUN IS AWESOME BUT AMMO TOO EXPENSIVE not shooting like want to. Its definitely not a range gun because hard to find AMMO I search and search for it. Hold on back to Kimbers; their still the best looking guns out there and probably worth the money so I'll save my pennies and will get one before I'm a senior citizen. .lol..Kimber keep making those sweet ass guns....

I just got one like yours but in 9mm. From the box it failed to chamber properly and every 3 or 4 shots it would not extract the empty cartridge. I sent it back to Kimber and they "fixed" it under warranty. It now fails every 4 to 5 shots. It looks beautiful in my safe but I would not use it as my concealed weapon of choice and have my life depend on it. Much rather keep my little Colt Mustang 380 with Lehigh deep penetration ammo in my pocket. The Mustang has never failed me. I've heard that the 9mm suffers from this problem.

+Luis Tunon, Jr. Sorry for your troubles Luis.. I had no problems with mine. I would suggest different mags (wilson combat) to see if that takes care of your issue. They are a little more expensive but well worth the money. The other thing you should try is 124gr or 147gr bullets to break it in a little more.. All Kimbers have a break in period. I think its in the manual that came with your gun... Good Luck!

I know this may sound sacrilegious but I'm not a fan of the Model of 1911. The design is the epitome of most modern pistols, I know, but at least with my funds and the way I use my tools. I'm, by no means, "poor", but if I spend close to $1000 on anything then it better serve me well. That's 1/4 of my monthly income! IMO they're just too pretty for me, weigh too much, and I hate the breakdown but that is one beautiful pistol! Which is also why I'm looking at buying this one. I think the Kimber ultra carry ll is the best looking one. You said, "If you have to use that many rounds then you probably shouldn't be where you are." Honestly I don't think anybody can control that most of the time. If that were the case, then, in theory, we shouldn't even need one round. Even though I'm against it, they're starting to rub off on me which is what brought me to your awesome video. I'm probably buying this one as my first "1911". Thanks for the vid!

You can do much worse then a Kimber anything just my opinion for the money they offer a lot but there are other 1911 for the budget minded sig ruger taurus certainly the later two not on par with kimber but much more economical if your on a budget.I personally don't like polymer handguns I was brought up with the help of my Grandfather a World War 2 vet that's where my love of the 1911 comes from I can still see the sparkle in his eye when he spoke of it with great reverance.

MrKZizzle Please don't get me wrong. I own two 1911s now and one is the Tactical Ultra II. I am almost 55 and carried 1911s for almost 30 years. I have owned a couple dozen. Government Models, Commander Models, Lightweight Commanders. Officers ACPs, Gold Cups, Kimber, SIG 1911, Springfield 1911. and on and on. In that one in a million chance I need to use it, I do not want it to also con inside with that "minority" incident when my 1911 does not work. WeE never had the choices we do now in the 1970s. so we basically made excuses and put up with those events in which it failed to feed, or eject, or stove piped... we just cleared the jam and kept on going. I did not have a problem with every single one of them. But I owned enough of them to witness it first hand.
