I love how at the end it's revealed he's not actually internalized racism but he's just THAT oblivious.

Well to be fair the tire swing one was non-racial!
@halosaft Жыл бұрын
All of that is internalized racism though, a big part of internalized racism is subconscious. Hence why it's internalized.

I see how the interpretation can be non racist, but still uses racist assumptions. The reveal always adds that relief.

The problem becomes the grandstanding and the thirst for blood that follows after. Calling stuff out to dialogue, persuade, and win over hearts and minds is exactly what we should be doing. Nowadays, people are abandoning all that difficult stuff at the end about persuading because they already got likes and scored the brownie points for the callout bit. Nobody cares about achieving the goal anymore because the goal has become applause for winning the endless dunk contest

Key & Peele show was absolute gold and really made serious social commentary. I've watched the series so many times and I miss that show so much. Brilliant comedy that just punches hard sometimes, as it should. Can't really think of anything today that lives up to their level.

I love your pure soul. Your ability to separate topics, religion, politics, and feelings is so perfect. Its so refreshing to see someone react with their belief and an explanation (and humor when appropriate) and without judgement and anger. If more people(and parents) reacted the way you did our world would be so different!

I don't know for certain but this scene feels like Jordan peele's directing. The way the camera zooms in on his face as the songs get worse and worse. Those subtle, eerie camera movements, during what should be a calm, friendly scene. You can see how he developed his style of slowly building tension, while having the villains in the open in front of you. No jumpscares, no cheap gory tricks to thrill you. His expression of the way evil can boil under the surface of a character during a normal scene is amazing to me. But also this is hilarious and is just jokes at the same time. What do i know?

The 4th wall break of "I feel like this is going to be the most racist song yet" is what makes Key and Peele so great. The detail of the jokes and the comedic timing is nearly perfect. You have to do manly tears and slave auction.
@htime91192 жыл бұрын
Is that a 4th wall break though? He is talking to Key still.
@gregbryant38262 жыл бұрын
@@htime9119 Comedy skits follow a formula where the jokes have to escalate. If the last song wasn't racist at all the whole bit would fall apart. His character saying that indicates he is aware he is in a comedy skit. Dramatic irony would be a more accurate term but I would sound like more of a twat saying that.
@allisonthompson34072 жыл бұрын
Hit the nail on the head with this one. In any marginalized community, there are folks looking to throw everyone else under the bus to win favour with the people who victimize. I am transgender and several high profile trans people are the same. It's not political, and it's strange when people say it is. Why are they so eager to claim bigotry for their side?
